I was just reading the new Perth street car magazine and there is a write up on Konstecki engine centre. They have made a custom alloy block that can have a bore size of 4.18 inches and has clearance for 4.125 inches of stroke wich equals a massive 454 CID. Or you can have other bore and stroke combos as required. The block is a direct replacement and apart from Kostecki being cast into the block looks stock as a rock. There is no dyno sheets yet or a price (cant see it being cheep) but I will try and find out more info as the week goes on. it says they strapped two turbos to the 454 and ran a 7sec pass but no details on what car it was in. I guess it was one of the 2 vy clubbies that has this block, 1 is the 454 and the other a 434.
P.S I did a search and found nothing so sorry if this has been posted

Might have to slip one into my CJ10 jeep. I think it might be a bit much for the 4L60E though:driving:

big cubes and big turbos would make any man cry!!! depending on reliability, that would be scary as f#ck on the road. Boost is best but add more cubes and we enter the twilight zone. Please find more details

Don't hold your breath. 2 years ago this was "almost ready for release" and still nothing...

Yes, been watching this man for a while, and yes Drew, it's been soon for a long time however, I do believe he is about to release the beast.
I have a price on my email from 4 weeks ago from the USA for a Warhawk tall deck all alloy 500 CID 8 Litre. 8 weeks and it would be on my door step. Was a little more than I wanted to spend at present however, they guaranteed me a 1000 hp dyno sheet with the motor naturally aspirated. (trying to go completely stealth)
As pointed out by Sonny, 1000 hp NA would sound so nasty idling at the lights that it would probably get more attention than a 500 CID mildly built with a dirty big hair dryer on it. Shhhh, now that would be quite.
Mind you, a man flinches a bit wondering how the 500 CID GM LSX would go with one of the new Harrop big arse Whipple's, the down low torque would be farkin ridicules, 450 AWkW sounds insane but interesting, wouldn't have to change my name then. :)
Cheers

Think I recall being told there is only one maker of the screw, and licences to make the housings, Ken would know the onions here!

The LSX block is a great block, and the tall deck Warhawk is the same at

or just bolt it in
Hi Steve,
to make a 1000HP will take some super light weight parts and big
heads/intake. The valvetrain will be all Jesel, ARP everywhere, etc. Roughly
the cost is $25,000- $26,000 USD. Deposit would be $15k. I would say the
biggest holdup will be getting the block. I'm guessing its a good 4-6 weeks
still. But with a deposit I can order the heads, rotating, jesel, etc to get
it going... Once I have all the main parts it will take 2 weeks to assemble
it.
Thanks
Dave
That was to go NA.

Price is good. I'd give it a go, if you get enough mufflers under the bastard it could be silenced enough to fool everyone

I don't no about enough muflers, my big block Torana makes 680 horses and the engine is louder than the exhaust.

Not much insulating it though is there...

My H/C LS1 was making near 540fwhp and it wasnt too loud from the front and the bonnet insulation was removed. 680 in an ls1 vehicle wouldnt be a problem to silence. A good trick for trying to shut up 1000hp would be to use thermo-tec wrap. Not nice to work with but had it once on my own 440ci BB and it silences the motor noise from the front heaps. You can wrap the headers and all the exhaust (front section) up to the mufflers.

Its more the roller cam, lifter noise and belts you would have to do the bonnet guards ect. Standing at front or side of the car is where most of the noise is. Its legal from the exhaust.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, what Im trying to say is that the ls1 cars with all the stuff in the engine bay and the plastic intake are quieter, even with solid lifters, and if you use the thermo wrap it does reduce valvetrain and engine noise, a lot of the internal engine noise resonates from out the top of the headers. If you tried it you would see.

We have the TSK140 which uses Lysholm twin-screw rotors, however it does not currently perform as good as we desire so we have ceased development on a Chev kit for now. Lysholm previously supplied Whipple who then stuck a Whipple label on it, however Lysholm & Whipple are currently in very nasty litigation as Whipple have (allegedly) copied the Lysholm design against the patent and agreements ... it will undoubtably end in tears. We do also stock the Lysholm range.
We have recently been working with/for Eaton on some new technology developments ... a whole new generation of products is coming .... :yahoo:

Ken if you don't have the best job in the world I don't know who does!!
Yeah ... I feel pretty lucky most of the time. It is more like being paid to have fun on most days ... it is kind of a "lifestyle" thing (especially based on the amount of hours I do). The best thing is being surrounded by a great team ... just need more of them. We cant keep up with the demand for what we already make, let alone the stuff I am still conceiving!
Any good CNC operators out there? :deal:
Any good ProE jockeys looking for a new home? :deal:
Of course ... there are days that just suck. The engineering stuff is great, but sometimes the "human" thing is a bugger to deal with. :cussing:
All things considered ... Yep, a good "job".

Great info as usual Ken. One question i do have though is i believe Opcom / Autorotor bought out Whipple and basically closed them down. Where do they fit into the lysholm/eaton equation?
