A very good insight to the man.

Whilst it was a shame Holden lost Bathurst - I was glad that it was won by Lowndes - on what was a very emotional weekend for many.

Would be good to see him back in a Holden again.

Clearly a guy with a level head and balanced view of life.

What a story. Im not an emotional guy but some parts had me in tears. Was a great story. Lowndes will always be a champ no matter what he drives

The Guys a Champion and full of class just like Jim Richards. The rest of the EGO's in v8supercars are just imposters.

That's a bit harsh. Like any competitive arena, the V8 Supercar field has its share of grade a w@nkers, but there are a few that I've met that have been geniune, down to earth blokes. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer bloke than Craig though.

yep i agree i met him once at a driver meeting thing at a ford dealers here in darwin just after he jumped ship, i was still not happy but didn't say anything about it but yeah top guy isn't he? i must say i was really glad that he won bathurst.I really wanted either holden or someone who knew brockie to win and well if a ford really had to win i'm glad it was him, could've been worse,it was nearly rich-boy-championship-buyer.Sorry but i still cannot forgive Kelly for that debacle last year.Looking at the highlights dvd i got the other day if that wasn't deliberate i'm the pope!!! ,BTW I Really am a Holden fan,One who believes in fairness and that was not fair as far as i am concerned.Plus does anyone remember kelly's pronouncement that he was better than brock i mean come on the fella needs his head examined.

Shane,
You can't forgive Rick Kelly for what??
Mate it was an incident that we see every race meet, remember when Skaife was pushed off the road by Ambrose, and then by Ingal at the last race in 2005, shit happens, yeah Rick tapped him but it wasn't deliberate, i have seen lots worse.
I too am a Craig Lowndes fan, but Rick Kelly is every part the driver Craig is

Cheers

if someone else other than lowndes was hit yes i agree it MAY have been an accident but doesn't anyone else think its dodgy that he effectively took out the only other bloke who could win, plus as far as i am concerned certain drivers are only in it because their fathers are millionaires apparently you don't need talent anymore.Just my opinion anyway hopefully we have a champion who is less controversial this year.On your other point surely you can't mean the immaculate conception everyone must love me ambrose.Sorry the man just irritates me with his attitude of "I can't do anything wrong i'm a ford driver.

I can see your point Rick does come accross that way, i don't think the silver spoon tag is warranted though, in his shoes if my parents owned the race team i Would still race, i mean Todd is his brother and he is not as like Rick.
In saying that talent is talent, and the boy has got it, all the money in the world won't get you on poll.

I love watching the competition, and i am a big fan of Rick, he has bought back the excitment in V8 supercars.
Look how my idol ( Mark Skaife) gets branded, yeah sure is not exactly Mr.PR material, but a great great driver only second to PB.
I feel for skaifey he has the weight of Holden on his back, now with the younger guys coming through he will be a better driver, and maybe the last 3 years of bad luck will be behind him.

Cheers

yes i agree about skaife and PB what i was trying to say earlier was that as much as kelly irritates me i hated marcos ambrose more again mainly because of his attitude but in his case it was more the i am the only one who is allowed to win, may be wrong just how he came across,do you remember the near punch up he had with murphy at bathurst a few years ago i was going for greg in that situation i thought finally someone will sort this bloke out.!!!!

Gee I am glad that no one is down on Craig Lowndes for shunting Max Wilson in the rear during a race incident at Clipsal this year!

Which team denied contact leaving the camera to focus in on to the damage left on Lowndes front head light and bar?

Yeah i am with you on Ambrose, i give credit where credit is due, he is a fantastic aggressive driver, it was real shame he let his ego get in the way of his driving.
Russel Ingal is another in the same boat, but he has pulled his horns in over the last few years, i guess we need other bad guys now.
I can see how Rick is percieved like that, and i do hope he grows out of that.
I think all in all he would havewanted a different outcome to last years final to end on pure racing ability, not a confentation, with Craig.

that was beautiful moment trackside :) I cannot tell you how pleasant the replays were on the big screen and the effect it had on the smart mouthed Ford supporters!

and as to Rick Kelly , his only problem in the past was his youth and that meant some statements being less than "managed" ..... I have known the guy since he was in the Young Lions car and there is no way that he would have deliberately punted Craig and I think the reaction and accusation from Craig and 888 is more of a reflection on their character than Rick's - it was a driving mistake , he admitted it , in Adelaide Lowndes did exactly the same thing and it happens in every race at every event.....and Rick proved by his driving skill at the Clipsal that he is indeed a worthy champion.

I was really touched by his relationship with his wife Natalie (what bloke doesn't need have his ego in check when you've got a family to take care of? :flame:). I thought they were in deep & it was beautiful. :serenade: :love2:

I seem to remember saying her exact words around here "it's not all about you".

Spot on Mikey.

I've got Lowndes in my dream team so I'm pissed he shunted Max. I have posted previously I think he is the best driver BUT he is a hot head. Max's pace was good at the time so Craig didn't need to rub him up and he would have got him sooner rather than later. Just another brain fade moment.

Regards the bullsh!t "no contact" quote...thats what happens to teams under the pump when they have mega $ sponsorships talk up their pace and then underperform. (Think Skaife as well).

As for the Kelly boys...what can I say...toughest track...2nd toughest race finished 1 & 2 in new cars. Rick Kelly haters can take an asprin now. Rick reminds me of Lowndes in his early days but Lowndes didn't get bagged for being aggressive, talented, quick and in a possible championship contending team.

Surely your not serious, ok maybe he can steer (still don't think he's in the same category) but he missed out when they were handing out personalities. The guys a Tosser!

This year i'm actually going for a FORD team (Lowndes). Skaife, Kelly's etc just don't deserve my support atm.

I haven't seen the whole thing, but I did see the bit where Crombly said that there was no way the Rick tap at PI was deliberate. Chaos Theory will tell you that it is impossible to deliberately tap someone in such a way that you can guarantee that they will sustain more damage than you as a result, so that even after you do the drive-through that you know is coming, you can be certain that you will still beat the other guy home. Can't be done. Tosser or not, I don't care how rich his parents are, it is not possible for the guy to be stupid enough for that to have been deliberate. Careless maybe (although probably still debatable). Deliberate no.

Lowndes when he is on song is a class above pretty much every other living driver racing in Australia. It is just impossible to hate the guy, even for driving a Ford. However, as long as he works for that whinger Roland Dane, it will be pretty hard for me to feel sorry for him when he gets beaten.

and re- the Ambrose thing mentioned earlier - I hated the guy when he was here. Didn't like his attitude, and didn't like the fact that he was beating the Holdens. But I have actually started finding myself supporting him when I watch his efforts in NASCAR - in V8SC in the "them against us", he was them, I was us. In NASCAR the them against us (or should that be US against us?) he is one of us as an Aussie. I can appreciate his talent now!

Yeah i guess i was a bit premature saying Rick is every bit the driver Craig is, i retract that comment, HSV winning at Clipsal has me all smiles.
Craig with all his faults( Ford) is a great driver up there with the best.
You must have to admit though Rick has grown to be competative, it will be a great year.

Yeah, first time on the forum, just doing searches for V8 Supercars and Craig Lowndes and Garth Tander and it came up with this.
Might have to look at the dates before posting next time.
Maybe the Mods should remove these old posts then??
