Just joined the forum and would like to find out some good options eg heads , s/c etc, all ready have cam 275rwkw every day car $3-5.

You can do heads with a tune for around 4k.. But will that be enough for you ?

Really after this point, you need to look at a stroker, or forced induction to get much bigger gains. The heads however will make a nicer car to drive. Maybe time to plan out how far you want to go, and research what you have to do to get it.

Hmm... what about selling it and buying an xr6 turbo? Or stretch the budget and go a genTT, if the cam will allow it I suppose.

275 kw sounds nice to me but I know how quick you get bored at any power level. Stock LS1 felt really grunty for about three days, now it feels like a six again. :(

the bad news is going to the next level will be very $$$$$$$.
like dan said either stroker or some form of FI is your next option anything less you will get bored too quickly.

thanks for the replys,the 383 stroker package is my aim, but no enough funds.what power gains from doing heads rwkw.

Upgrading the heads with a tune will probably give you about 290 at a real rough guess know idea really... No doubt you would notice the improvements and probably return better economy but would it be enough for you?


I would go a stroker. From what I have read nothing beats the feel of a stroker. They pull hard when you want them to and the power is always there ie:instant power.

Sure you might use more fuel but really do you get a V8 to save money?:thumbsup:

Dont go the 383 package get a 408. They cost pretty much the same (from what I have read) and the gains would be greater of course.

Start saving your pennies and stroke that donk:thumbsup: Then you will have a real weapon of a car:thumbsup:

You might have to wait a bit longer but I promise it will be worth it.

strokers make some nice power and go hard but nothing beats the torque of one is pushing it. i think you need to read a bit more.

You will get up to 290-300 rwkw with heads, but more importantly is the improvement in the way it drives. A 383 may not give you much more in the way of numbers.

Possibly research some Forced induction kits. I think a forged and balanced 346 with a nice twin screw supercharger sounds awesome to me :thumbsup:

Decent heads and bigger cam. Should hit 300rwkw with a decent free flowing 3" exhaust.

You wont get big gains rwkw with a head upgrade but you will get a better overall package.I think you would be disappointed with a head job unless it was Kylie Minouge.
