Hi all,
been a while since posted.
Anyways, trying to get a VK RWC for the mother in law. Needs some TLC as it has not moved for 5 years due to death of the father in law.
Anyways, have to fit a new indicator light (drivers) and new indicator arm.
Bought both, not willing to pull the thing apart without knowing how.
1. How to get the steering wheel off and fit the new arm
2. How to fit the indicator light correctly.
Hopefully smooth sailing, any helps is appreciated.
Cheers

pretty easy the ol 'girls
VKs?
I have one in bits atm
being done as a weekend racer
the steering wheel is a job for a wheel puller
so
after you undo the horn pad (screws are behind )
undo the large center nut, fit wheel puller and steering
wheel comes orf...ezy pezy
then a screw or two and the indiciator arm is orf
feed harness up thru column housing to get right out
(disconnect it first under dash)
indicator light?
you mean the one in the dash?
if so, the instruments have to come out
so
while the wheel is orf
undo speedo cable (clips off from under neath dash at back of cluster)
unscrew dash surround...look for screws in front of instrument
surround and then unscrew the screws holding the dash in
and pull dash towards you.
Reach around behind (battery is disconnected I hope)
and disconnect wiring to back of dash and push pad
(most have a push in clip to squeeze)
dash comes out..and remove globe and replace with new
(twist and pull out from memory)
installation? reverse of removal

Cheers. This info is great!
By indicator, i mean the actual lens at the front. It looks like the old one has been ripped off, including lamp holder.

aaah..the one with the headlight....is bust
(not the one on the dash)
take the whole light lamp assy out
coupla screws on top and the whole lot comes out
then the indicator assy comes off
(has its own elect harness connection)
once its out ....
you will see how easy it is to replace

If you cant get a puller to get the steering wheel off theres another way. Sounds rough but it does work and if done right will not damage anything. Take horn pad off. 2 screws on back. Undo steering locknut and remove. Use texta to mark shaft and steering wheel so it goes back inright spot. Undo main nut and undo it so it sits flush with end of steering shaft. 2 people is handy here. One pulls back on wheel and other gives shaft a couple of taps with a hammer. The nut being flush with end of shaft stops shaft from mushrooming. Cut wires to indicator stalk and tie on some good string and pull through to under dash. Tie string to plug on new switch and pull it through.

or you can do as above with removing all the parts so the steering wheel is is ready to remove . . place one hand on either side of the steering wheel and jiggle from side to side . . this will wiggle it off the spline. May take a bit of work bit it will release it.
Blinker is easy as mentioned above - 2 screws or bolts on top and the whole lot lifts up and slides out. One small screw secures the blinker to the headlight. With the bumper on you have to squeeze the light over the top but it does come out.

Absolutely.. this is the way I do it. BUT - make sure you leave the nut on the shaft a few turns... this saves you wacking yourself in the face when the things comes loose in a hurry! :deal:
