Hi Mat

Give Dan at Chipmaster (forum sponsor) a call, he has tuned many a car in north of Australia and will be able to answer all of your questions.

My car has had a maffless tune for 4 years, no problems.

Just one thing you might have to look at, if your exhaust is a twin 2 inch, i think you might find it a bit restrictive.

im guessin its even a twin it says in the describtion of the car hitech headers and a 2" stainless exhaust,
i mean i suspose its twin why would you put exstractors on with only 2" single unless its ment to be 3" typo maybe i just gota convince my old man to drive it back hes reckons hes not driving it back if its had work done,
but what he dont know cant hurt him :flip3: so if it will still be as good as factory ill get it done any ways
hears a pic of the back of the car to see what you guys reckon

A twin 2 inch would be too restrictive, sure it's not a twin 2.5 inch?

When you say shift kit "electroical thing...." is it getting an actual shift kit installed or do you mean it's getting the shift points firmed up electronically?

I ask because Shift points are normally firmed up in an auto as part of the tune and is included in the cost of the tune.

Good luck with the car, hope to see some more pics once you get it home.

The MAFLESS tune, provided its done by a someone who knows what they are doing, will have absolutely no effect on reliability. It's not like you're putting a huge turbo on it and pushing 20psi into it.

I thought all HSV's came with a duel 2 1/4" exhaust standard at a minimum? This being a grange, I would have thought the same, or did they leave the 2" on them so they remained quieter?

But I agree with the consesus, you would at least need a 2 1/2" and better to get it on before the tune.

thnk_again ... I just live down the road from you and regulary drive around in my LX8 in the 45+c temps here with no probs at all. I had Dan at Chipmaster do the engine and tranny mods and have had no probs whatso ever. I didnt get a mafless tune but I cant see it being any diff in reliability of the vehicle if you did.

Cheers and hangin on through this cyclone!!!!!!!

As someone who had dirty wires on a MAF throw error codes and cause car to go into 'crap idle' mode I'd say a good MAFless tune would make it more, not less reliable. It might be slightly less economical and you might not want to go through an emissions test without it......
