G'day,

Just wanted to ask a question about my 04 vy commodore exec. I lent it to my sister over the weekend, went there to pick it up after she's finished with it and we were inside having a cuppa when the car's factory (horn) alarm went off. We walked out and had a look and there were 2 blokes walking away from the car.

The alarm was activated by the bonnet. My sister said she forgot to close bonnet when she pulled the wrong latch trying to open the boot. But the alarm didn't go off for an hour after she locked the car up.

What we are trying to find out is if the 2 blokes had pulled the bonnet up to set the alarm off, or if the alarm went off by its self since the bonnet was unlocked. It was about an hour after she locked the car, though. So we're thinking they pulled the bonnet.

Anyone got any idea?

Cheers,

Rob

not sure but might be the same as the boot

i once hit the boot release button but didnt open it ... then i asked a friend walking past a half hour later (at a guess) to just open n shut it properly n that caused the alarm to go off

i think it rearms itself after a while

if the car is locked, and u open the boot (but dont lift the lid) it only takes a minute or 2 b4 it rearms its self, then wen u lift the lid the alarm goes off.

I've done a similar thing with mine. Boot was unhitched and set the alarm. It didn't go off for about 30 minutes.

I've had mine go off from the bonnet. Had the windows down, reached in the drivers window and popped the bonnet without looking to see the doors were locked. Then walked to the front to undo the latch, as soon as the latch was lifted the alarm went off. The display on the dash board will then tell you that the alarm was activated by the bonnet.

So i'd say that the guys that were walking away had lifted the bonnet.
