Now we all have had our service dramas I know, but this was a goody. Had the statey in for a service, said do all the filters as they hadnt been done for a while and the drivers electric window isnt working, see what you can do After new front and back brakes, machining, auto and injector service, not to mention replacing much of the front suspension bits and pieces, came to the princely sum of about $1200 AND they told me i would need a new switch box for the windows, about $160. Told them not to worry at this stage, it was already costing enough.
A few weeks later pull up at a set of lights 200m down from home and she cuts out, wont start, just keeps cranking. Couple of guys push me into a side street and wait for the NRMA to come. While im waiting i crank her over again and hear a sloshing noise. Get out of the cars and petrol all over the place under the tank, so i dont crank it again. NRMA 5 second fix, they hadnt clipped the fuel line back in place (it actually clicks into place, i heard him do it)properly so it fell off. What if i had driven 20k and the exhaust pipe was really hot with fuel spraying all over it. Rang holden and they tell me its possibly due to a faulty batch of filters, they had already replaced one this week, bring it in and they would change it over. They checked it and said no its fine and thats it, no apology no nothing, I was waiting for them to actually charge me before i blew up (bad pun given the fuel leak i know). Went home with some time to spare and checked/pulled apart the power window switch and there was a bit of lint stopping the connecetion, another quick fix.
Having had lots of servicing glitches over the years, just what do we pay $99 an hour labour costs for? An apprentice to screw up something simple like a filter, not to neccesarily say it was even an apprentice, although thats the rumour with this place.
What can i do. Im sure there are ford horror stories to, but i never had a service problem with any of them (is ford considered a swear word on this site?)

There are good dealers and bad dealers. There are also mistakes and accidents. There are also people with poor customer service skills/common courtesy.

Looks like you either just had a bad experience, or maybe stay away from them. Maybe someone in your area can recommend somewhere to go?

Best of luck. Glad it didn't end in flames...

Unbelieveable! I just changed my fuel filter on friday and know exactly what you mean by clipping in. Hmm and i was keen as mustard and did spill some fuel on the hot exhuast and saw my life flash before my eyes. Lesson learned on that one!

Your very lucky it didnt end in disaster, those fuel filter clips are always stuffed up by dealer apprentices,we get plenty in,we even got one in that the clips were stuffed that bad, they decided to tie strap the filter ends on ..lol..,its good practise to change those clips every third fuel filter change as they are piss weak, the whole pipe from the dealer costs $12,you simply take the clips from the new pipe and place them into the old one, always make sure to use little bit rubber grease before intserting the fuel filter into the pipe ,so it slides easy over the o ring inside the pipe stopping it from wearing out during changes and also seating properly over the pipe.

Mate just drive past all the dealerships on your way to Marranos, i drive from Albion Park so it only another 10-15 mins for u. there is a couple of good cafes there. and your $1200 would go a bit further towards fixing the issues properly.:driving:
