Has anyone removed the rear muffler/resonator and just fitted pipes and the chrome tips that will bolt to th rear exhaust flange?
What did it sound like?
Does anyone have a set they no longer need, i did get a PM from a member but i have lost the message, any help appreciated. I remember someone in Perth had there rear resonators stolen around xmas time and had some made, if you could PM me that would be great. Cheers

PS Not sure if this is the right place to ask this but see what happens....:hide:

yeh mate I removed mine off the R8 took about 2 minutes, did sound better, but was'nt to my liking. ended up putting a difillipo system on with the centre muffler removed sounds bloody awesome now, but there is a bloke on this site that left his rears off & had pipes & tips fitted for ( from memory) about $380 or there abouts. take yours off you will know if you will like it or not thats the best way.
PS: dont forget to let us all know what your end result is

$600 odd will get you some S/S straight through lukies (or the likes) with 3" tips (same look). Check with JKGMH for more details:love: .

Just pipes will drive you mad (I took off my rear Mufflers just to see also, drone, pop pop pop, drone, pop, pop, pop :cussing: ).

Cheers

I believe KPM left a line out of that thread because I have been PMing David about systems and the $890 price should be mild steel only. There should be an extra set of prices for semi stainless between the existing ones which are for mild and full stainless. The semi stainless means stainless mufflers (proper 304 grade) and mild steel pipes.

Given the cost of just replacing the rear mufflers I think it better value to do a cat back system.

You can buy 'off the shelf' mandrel bent twin 2 1/2" systems these days for not much extra and if you pay a bit more you can get a custom made system.

Thanks for the feedback, i have had a single 3"cat back system before and ended up getting a twin 2 1/2" SS with Pacemaker extractors. This was on my WH. Sounded nice with good deep sound on takeoff and cruising with no drone. (Fitted by MWS)
Will probably wait and do that again but SSV is under warranty, so i might go and see BG first and see if it will void anything.
blackbettyhsv - I got a PM from him before but deleted it by mistake and can't remember the user name. thanks
