View Full Version : Ryno Insurance Claim - GOOD

There was some discussion a while back about whether anyone had made a claim with Ryno Insurance.
see thread here http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=816276&highlight=Ryno+Claim#post816276

Well I can now say YES:doh:
I was towing the boat after a day on the bay and decided to stop at LaPorchetta for some dinner on the way home. Found a nice double car park that had no cars next to me, but when i came back there were cars everywhere. Some one was waiting for my spot and i was focusing on them for a second and forgot about the trailer, it caught the bumper of the car next to me and ripped half of it off along with lots of bits behind the bumper.:cussing:
Anyway did the right thing and left my phone number on the windscreen. I'm sure they got a little shock when they got back to their car:p

Anyway I called Ryno today, and for claims they put you thru to a specialised claims processing company. So the fear that people had of them being too hard to contact in the event of a cliam is NOT correct.
They gave me no hassles as yet, just have to pay my $500 excess, and they will contact the other party. If the other party calls me i am to refer them directly to the claims company.

So thats it so far it seems to have been smooth and pain free, and my rating 1 was protected so all good.

Cheers
Barney

Thats good to know Barney, please do keep us updated with your progress on the claim. Personally I've found Ryno to be a pain in the ass to deal with on the phone (not claim related though). As an example, Often I've phoned in the morning at say 9.30am only to get an answer message saying that office hours are 8.30am to 6pm (or whatever). You can leave a message but they never phone back. Another poor effort was when I phoned up to enquire about trackday insurance. Apparently there is only one operator in the whole company who knows about this (despite there being several paragraphs in the policy documents they send out - they should know their product better). This guy, called Sean, failed to return any of the 4 messages I left with other operators (he was always out of the office or unavailable).

Just because I went outside the big brokers and pay a very competitive price for my premium, doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to speak to someone on the phone who can answer my questions does it?

Anyway I suppose the claim process is the most important so good on you for giving us some feedback.

good to know.
it maybe a little bit more hassel being a smaller company contacting them sometimes, but i don't mind for $400 saving.

Don't forget that we don't have daylight-saving up here, so your 9.30 is our 8.30......;)

Barney, that is good to know.

This may not be the right place for this but seeing were talking about Ryno

I have just turned 22 and want to make the upgrade from a Vs v6 berlina to a ls1, so i looked at Ryno after all the comments on this site

I’ve got a perfect driving history and always had my berlina insured with aami. The Renewal has just came from aami for 600 bucks Rating 1, but as im under 25, they wont touch me with a v8.

Racv wanted $1400 for a wh ls1 stato, which isn't too bad, but ryno wanted $1550......

Have they now seen the light and put there prices up or what. I was after a price closer to 1k. This is for a standard car, no mods (was going to add them all later)
Has anyone else witnessed the same from Ryno??
By the way, I got an email back with the quote less than half an hour after I submitted it, which I thought was pretty good.

im actually looking to swap over to ryno for my maloo which is currently with shannons. nrma wanted $1689 approx but nocked me back cause of the risk of me and the hsv. they dont have a problem with me insuring an ss but the hsv has a higher risk. cost me around $1900 with shannons, but ive got klm restrictions. just got a reply from ryno and there figure was under $1400 with the only condition being that it be securly garaged. im also gonna get a quote now on my calais and see how competive it is against nrma($1050).

I've never had a problem with them at all. The other day I rang to update my details and spoke to my account manager Sean. All sweet.

Rang back yesterday to get a quote for a greenslip as he said he wouldn't mind doing so (don't worry, their CTP aren't the cheapest...) He was on the phone. Suggested to Kelly (i think) that I send him an email and got his email address. Sent email with all my details. He replied with a CC to the person doing CTP quotes - who rang me this afternoon.

Very friendly crowd of people - only 4 in their office I believe and are very friendly and happy to strike up a conversation despite their workload.

Great to hear that claims are going through without a hitch.

Yeh exactly my experience. I had a lengthy chat with shaun when i changed to them. I think that because they are a small office is why they can take a little time to get back to you. BUT they are actually a specialist division of a much larger insurance company and in the event of a claim you go to a dedicated phone number so there isnt the delays.

There isnt many getting that price with AAMI. AAMI kept uping my premium every year whilst my cars value went down and i had no claims.

When speaking to Shaun he said that they did not want ordinary Mum & dad commodores. They are after the enthusiasts. So given u have a bog stock
6cyl, their premium may be a deliberate deterent.
U get the same thing if u call Shannons, in fact they would say no thanks we dont want ur business.

EDIT: Opps i reread and realised u approached them about an LS1, but maybe same reason.

They only insure classic, sports or prestige vehicles. Is it a full replica - ie V8 etc or does it just look like an SS?

So far i have been very impressed with RYNO. Mainly because there premium was sooooooooooooo much cheaper than everyone else.

VE GTS 2007 Quotes;
NRMA over $3000
AAMI denied
GIO $2800
Shannons & Just cars don't do "business use"
RYNO $1200 with no catches.

This equates to more than a 50% saving!

I think i could handle waiting on the phone an extra couple of minutes:p

Good to hear about your positive experience with them. I have also found Sean a little hard to get hold of at times and he sometimes gets confused as to what he has already organised on previous phone calls but I suppose he talks to a great many people about their cars every day. I'm happy with my policy with the turbos.

Very good to hear, I've been with them since I got the Clubby, so far I can't complain about their service at all. Maybe they should be approached in regards to sponsorship of the forums? I'm sure that would be good for all involved.

I to can vouch for the Ryno claim process. About 2 weeks ago had the front driver side window smashed and the stereo stolen. Processed the claim all good. Everything covered. No issues.

Ryno have been awesome for myself, i went from Just Cars and switched to them because of the GenTT kit.. Sean had no drama in putting me to a rating 1 (which i already way) and i listed every single mod i had on my ute and its all insured as an agreed value of $32,000 and i only pay $1400 a year premo which covers every single little thing on my ute without worries.

Cant recommend them enough :)

Yep I am also with Ryno now and no complaints so far! Halved my insurance premium against Just Cars and also a much lower (Less than half) the excess.

Crusty
06-06-2007, 02:45 PM
I liked the lower excess, none of this "$400 base, $500 performance car, $300 for performance modifications" that Just cars pull.
