Be sure to send me a video if you get one fitted up Daz. I cannot
imagine anything sounding better than a 3.5 single, but always
keen to hear other options.

I am torn Rod between
Xforce twin 3"
Difillipo twin 3"
twin 3" into 3.5 single Sureflow medium (if this can be done)

Sureflow is cheapest but just keeping options open I don't mind my xforce twin 2.5 but would like to go bigger so everything is complete (for now)

Daz, PM Chev from Chev's performance ... Ihe fitted an X-force 3" to his VX Clubsport recently.

His is blown and not cammed but he should be able to give you some feedback. Looks like a nice bit of gear going by the pics.

Go the Diffilipo, I picked up 14 rwkw with nearly the same set up as you.

After trying Star and TBA throttle bodies, they added another 6 to 7 rwkw, over the standard throttle body with this exhaust.

Plus the sound is awsome.

Xforce twin 2.5" sound is good (a little to quite) hopefully the twin 3" gives a deeper growl.

PS:5000k twin 2.5 xforce for sale $300 firm.

Does anyone know if the twin 3" Xforce can be ordered with rear hot dogs instead of a resinator like the 2.5" can.

I had a twin 2.5" stainless X-Force on my SV8 and found it quite droney at light throttle and too loud under WOT.

Sureflo medium I switched too had no drone at all but was just as loud at WOT (which was how I wanted it).

Since then I have gone to Sureflo quiet but that's another story.

Iam running a twin 3 inch Xforce. Its an awesome setup. Sounds tuff as and also no drone. I love it. Also 278rwkw cam only through a very slippery 4000rpm power sapping converter.

I would go the Xforce as you will be able to get it supplied and fitted for no more than $1100 retail.

Yep i have the rear reso on it. Its bloody loud so if you took that off it would be fu%ken loud. It wouldnt pass the legal decibel level thats for sure on my car but it sounds tuff though. It still cruises great on the highway with no drone and it is a nice note at cruising speeds on the hwy. They are a good looking system and look very well made and fit on the car great.

Would be real easy to fit yourself. 2 sections and just bolts together

What sort of difference in time and rwkw are we talking? I have a 3.5 and it sounds good but not as good as BigJim's twin 3" Xforce. Now I call that sounding like Armageddon. Possibly a little too loud for me but I guess like so many things you get used to it.

Love mine, although it was on car when I bought it, but as for CRAP, its got some of the best welds Ive seen on a stainless exhaust, and the power for what ive done is bloody good.
Never heard anyone claim they are the best thing since sliced bread but shit, cant believe they have been called cheap crap.

They are bloody well made, the welds are perfect, even the exhaust guys I went to see were rubbin 1 out lookin at the joins while she was on the hoist.
I dont take offence to it, couldnt care less really, just cant believe something like these could be classed as crap by anyone.

funny how all the cut in X pipes seem to go faster down the track and make more power on the dyno... and yes ive tested them ALL, there was 15rwkw difference between 10 different styles of "merge" collectors we tried a long time back when we tested the single 3.5", you would be suprised at what merge made the most power... it was nothing at all like what is sold on any exhaust here, all the ones that didnt work ended up in the same place as the single 3.5", in the bin..

every one that says a cut in pipe dosent work is dreaming, i ran 12.1@114 unopened with a stock redback dual 2.5, then it got bolted to uncles car and ran 11.6@117 cam only, then a dual 3in was fitted with a cut in "merge" and it picked up a few MPH to 119,

on my turbo setup i ran the exhaust that is now on uncles car with the cut in "merge" on the drag day to 127mph, after that day i decieded i wanted a little more noise so we swaped to a totally seperate dual 3in system and it did NOTHING at all for the HP, not 1 HP more, if anything needs flow its a boosted setup, if the cut in "merge" was going to restrict power on anything it would be a boosted car..

What type of drone to get from the 3" compared to the 2.5"? Actually what is the general consensus regarding exhaust brands. I was looking into a Difillipo but these posts have somewhat confused me!!!
Any feedback would be sweet....

10sec_rx7
19-03-2007, 08:33 PM
Drone is all in the choice of mufflers, you can do a dual 3in with very little drone to no drone,

there is certinally nothing wrong with the DF exhausts or the x force or a custom one,

I called them direct 4 weeks ago. They said they only make one for the sedan. Thye told me they had no plans for a Monaro. Perhaps yours had some customisations to make it fit? Or... they were telling me porkies.

I callled Dale from CHE, Chevs from Carrrum Downs and even Sonny from Marranos to double-check. None of them ever fitted one to a Monaro, only sedans. Dale even talked to them on my behalf.

Damn, this could have saved me a lot of money if it is true...

The sedan system will bolt straight on to the Monaro.
It only requires the tailpipes to be shortened and one hanger to be moved, very simple to do.

"RRP for the twin 3" system is $1200.00 stainless steel, $633.33 mild steel." All you guys seem to quote 1100 fitted for mild, so either they stuffed up and quoted me 2.5inch, or people are charging 400 odd dollars to bolt on an exhaust ?

Does anyone know the difference between LS1 and LS2 exhausts other than the flanges being different? For example, ones is on a 30 degree angle, the other is flat. I wanna get an X-Force twin 3" cat back, but only if its not much work to fit it. Just need to know if the hangers will line up the same and if the exhaust sits exactly the same under the car. Apparently they don't make one for the LS2 so basically need to know if the LS1 version will line up the same. The car is a VZ Clubsport.

They definately just bolt on with no modification on the HSVs. The fit is very tight through the outlet on the bar and some actually touch the surround but they do look the goods :) Cheers John

Hi guys,
just wanted to second that opinion - I recently got the 3" xforce cat-back from scotts rods. He gave me a brilliant price, way cheaper than anyone here, including shipping to Perth, and very friendy to deal with too. It was well packaged and arrived in a week!

As for the exhaust itself - its excellent quality, fitted no worries, and sounds great (if anything - too quiet). I havent measured any performance improvement yet, but will do that when I eventually get extractors fitted.

Anyway - I'm v.happy and would recommend Scotts if anyone's considering one of his products.

You don't need to be validated to post pics! You do need more than 10 posts but you have that, so just put the pics on photobucket.com or similar and post the links to them.

What did you put it onto ?

I've got a VE SS M6.

BTW - if anyone's interested - the standard GM mufflers bolt directly up to the 3" xforce catback (& presumably vice-versa, though I havent tried that). This makes it easy to swap between loud and quiet, if you want to. And it sounds exactly like standard in this config - v. quite and no drone. Seems to imply that sound is mostly in the rear mufflers&tips, not the pipe size.

Also - In bog standard form, I ran a best of 13.674@102.38, with esp on.
With the 3" xforce catback and no other mods I got 13.661@103.92.
ie. A very slight improvement in mph, but not much.
Either way, I dont think the catback system by itself has any significant effect.

Cant wait to get extractors and try that...

I put my xforce 3" on just b4 chrissy...I am more than happy with it! the price was great $1100 for stainless much cheaper to get one off ebay than locally...And the sound is unreal!you can hardly hear it when sitting at the lights but as soon as you put the foot in...:headbang: As soon as i get around to it i will post a sound file.
At the same time I also put on paceys and high flow cats...which my pants have told me has definantly made the car quicker:smilesandbanana:

Just wandering how the twin 3" Xforce would compare in sound to a Remus race system? I was told this was holding back the power especially when the cam went in.

Just love the sound of the Remus as it doesn't drone but feel I need to put something that flows a lot better
