Hey All,

Thought i'd post a few pic's that I took at the recent Shannons Tattersalls Historic racing at Phillip Island. Great race meeting, with some pretty awesome cars.

This year had a full field, including cars from the early part of the centrury, right up to late 80's touring cars. The Formula 5000's were something else to hear entirely!

If anyone else went, make sure you post your thoughts.

Photo's are either taken from the Paddock, the top of the control tower, or the HayShed corner looking down towards turn 6 and siberia, whilst sitting in my recovery vehicle.

One thing to note - each of the car's photographed are the real deal. The regulations on the race series specify that replica's are not allowed, and each have to be authenticated as a true genuine race car.

The Porsche photographed was on load from the Porsche museum in Germany, and is a dual LeMans 24hour winner - to my knowledge, the only car to have won the race twice.

Apologies for the crappy quality on some of the photo's - they were taken on my phone.

Very nice pictures there. I especially like the one of Jackie Stewart's Tyrrell Formula 1 car. Did they put it in the kitty litter just for you ?

Of course they did you don't have to embarrass him by asking.

I think some of the cars from that event are on display at Albert Park this weekend. Saw them today and took a few pics.

Great shots mate, and top view from the control tower.

great shots from the tower and even better considering they were from your phone.

Serious, Serious dollars there. Will this be televised at all on any channels?

I'm not sure. Definately not on any of the major networks, but there were a few people there shooting interviews etc... Possibly a speedweek type thing? but i've never seen it on the box.

In Pit Lane might have some stuff, but it will probably only be walking around the padock.

This has to be one of, if not the best race meeting in the country. Watching a field of 25+ F5000's done the main straight at full noise just fantastic. I'll post up some pic's on a minute.

Love that Aston Martin - that sort of sports car will never age badly... except for the handling and the brakes....

Do a search on the DBZ - it's actually not a fair dinkum Aston factory car, but an australian kit, to suit older aston's. It's pretty clean looking.

It's run as part of the same series. I've never been to the Sandown event, but chances are that I will this year. May be a good event to organise a tour to.

I agree. I know that because i'm involved, it's a little biased an opinion, but to watch those 'REAL RACING CARS' race, is absolutelly magic.

That VL (The Motorola car) was an absolute work of art. Was in concourse condition when i took the photo's on saturday. Unfortunatelly it stalled on the grid on sunday and took a BIG hit up the arse.
