im not sure whether other models have the same annoyance but has anyone noticed how difficult it is to turn on the fog lights? I dont know what they were thinking but its so hard to pull the light switch out to activate the fog lights. The switch is very slippery and hard to pull out! :cussing:

They should have made it like the VT where theres a separate switch.

Has anybody got a fix for it apart from sticking on some grip stickers?

cheers

Perhaps they changed it so that it is difficult to turn on when not foggy and actually comes on easily when foggy.

But you will probably have to wait until nearer to winter to find that out.

I posted a similar statement in the Holden sponsor thread some time ago with a suggestion to change the material to something like the soft rubber vent air 'wheel' or to have raised dimple type material.

Trouble is the switch is tapered and smooth so 'getting a grip' is a pain. I just leave mine on all the time

I used to be one of those nasty buggers that thought it was cool to drive around with foggy's on but found that the clubby foglights are very concentrated and annoy the shit outta everyone else so I don't touch them unless it's actually foggy now.

As I can't drive and look at my fog lights, can anyone comment on how "concentrated" VE's are?

I have noticed a few cars driving with fogs on and it is a real pain when following one. They are designed to cut through fog so are always pretty concentrated so it's not only the SSV. It's very rarely foggy here so I am sure a lot of people don't even know what they are really for.

HSV E Series "fog lights" are piss weak ... they wouldn't blind anyone, they look more like little parking lights. I leave them on all the time.

As for how to make the switch easier to use, have you tried washing your hands ??? I have never had a problem with it, not slippery at all.

oh dont get me wrong i dont turn on my foggies when its not necessary, that just looks stupid. in canberra it can be foggy at times in winter so its useful. what im saying is when ya need the foggies straight away its just not that easy to pull out. i mean i dont want to be turning on my high beam on a foggy day.

Think it is all relative to the size of your nose pickers. Might have to put my fingers on a Jenny Craig diet

I have an 07 VE SS and also took ages to find out how to turn them on lol but once i found it...they seem to turn on and off easily, cant see there being much difference from the SS to the SSV.

Regulation 183(1) of the Road Traffic Code WA 2000. The driver of a vehicle that is fitted with a front or rear fog light should not operate the front or rear fog light unless driving in fog or other hazardous weather conditions causing reduced visibility, and that the penalty for contravention is one demerit point and a $100 fine.

The regulations relating to fog lights have covered the offences for 31 years under the Road Traffic Code; the reason being that fog lights are not designed to light the road ahead in the same manner as normal headlights, neither are they required to be directed down and to the left as normal headlights are. As a consequence, most fog lights, due to the specific nature of their design and the purpose they serve, are directed straight ahead. Fog lights, when coupled with normal headlights, can result in the drivers of oncoming vehicles being dazzled, even during daylight hours, thereby impairing drivers’ vision.

:p

I think that you'll find that this is worth an $85 fine if it is not foggy (in NSW, according to RTA Road Rules). :)

i posted this thread to describe how difficult it is to pull the fog light switch out to on position. it doesnt mean i do it when not necessary. i live in canberra so yes in the early hours of the morning in winter it can become quite foggy.

thats interesting maybe i should look for the part from holden cos its such a bitch to turn on and when its foggy its pretty sudden sometimes.
