Guys,

Went to test the lsd the other night and noticed that only 1 wheel wants to spin? Whats the go??
In the wet no worries both wheels and when it chirps 2nd it kicks out like LSD but when testing if both wheels spin on the spot she only leaves 1 line?

Are the LSD in the VZ Weak or something? What would it cost for new 3.9's and a LSD re-shim/rebuild. Car is a M6

Located Sth Eastern Suburbs.

Thanks

All the Holden ones arent that great, even if you get it shimmed eventually it'll be one-wheeling again.

I thinks its Limited Sometimes Diff when it comes to the Holden options...

Clutch plates in the diff are worn i reckon.
Did you buy the car new?
If not, maybe the previous owner was a bit heavy on the right foot.
Because being a vz it should still be good ud think??

straight line shouldnt be a problem at all ... its round corners that the POS starts singling out ... mainly turning right ... turning left results in oversteer :driving:

Mine goes single on left turns aswell, but befor you even get close to straight it kicks the other wheel in:driving:

My brothers VZ Club does the same. A friend of mine works at holden and apparently they only torque the plates in the diff to 40 something NM. Its in the specs. Around 75 NM will get it going.

Y do they do this for, i dont know.

LSD is the weak link but I suspect that holden have done this intentionally

ps careful what you say on a public forum guys

This is how I know they will have to replace it, although I dunno how you'd go without a towbar. A guy down here just said he tows his boat with it and that when the boat ramp is wet it spins one wheel instead of driving both and thats the reason he got an SS with an LSD to begin with...

Will put the boat theory forward on Thursday when my ute goes in, will be hard not to smirk though.

My VY Clubsport lays 2 in a straight line and sometims reverts to 1 when turning right, I think I remember reading about friction modifyer additives you can put in the diff to increase the effects of the LSD? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Mine must be semi retired as it only lights up both 3 days a week. The other 4 days it dog legs like a an old VN...

The car is just over 18 months old, and has 20,000kms. Luckily i've just added a towbar and will be getting Holden to have a look at it (which is probably all the will actually do !!) at the next service...

I was going to mention to them on sandy ramps it does do single leggers, for some reason i didn't even think to just mention wet ramps. D'oh !!

Yes you are correct.. can can get different diff oil as well as additives with increase the LSD effect.. obviously not as much as a re-shim or what not..

had the LSD in my Calais Built to withstand 800HP.. and shimmed to the maximum they could.. she double spins and sits out no worries.. it'a a VT diff in the VP.. might go back to the place and see what specs they built it to and see if it will fit in the VY.. do a swappie :)

Got Vz ss ute. Mine did the same as yours, from new. Didn't do it every time. But at the drags it did it alot. I got 3.9's and re-shimed. Best thing i did. Cost around $1000 fitted(in Qld). No problems since.(18 months old). Get it done by a respected shop though. Enjoy.

Mine lasted 110,000 KM and was still twin wheelin... Till I started to drag it. Put 3.73's in and then had it shimmed and it worked NA at the drags for a few meets. Then I added the turbo and I could get 1 maybe 2 passes before it started single spinning :cussing:

Ive now got a full spool  Lets see that single wheel

mate they are stuffed from new! Mine used to get stuck when I would go up a driveway on an angle - would spin the oposite wheel and I had to push it off a couple of times. Holden say this is normal.

had my 3.9's put in and a reshim - now it Limo's the hole way. Spins both wheels left or right turn.... but if you do this too much it will slack off again.

Good luck with Holden - I don't think you will get anywhere...

Yeah i know reshim doesn't last forever if i can save a few dollars which i don't have atm and get the lsd fixed under warranty why not.

The future probaly looking at getting different lsd maybe kazz or something.
