Hi friends need some help just done the head on my sons car and need to know the timing or teeth numbers on the belt. Have lined up the crank with the mark on the oil pan and lined up the cam with the belt mark at top dead center. i know the vl motor sits at an angle and have compensated for the angle of the engine have counted 52 teeth on the belt. am i right thanks marko
hi mate;from memory you should have 53 grooves counted when counting between timing marks on camshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley.however you start at zero so really you should have 54 grooves.dont forget to tension timing belt tighten tensioner bolt and then turn engine over 2 crankshaft revolutions by hand and double check that you still have 53 grooves when starting from zero.hope this helps. weed.

It is 53 teeth. Counting from 0 to 53.
Also to ensure correct belt tension, rock the tensioner side to side 3 - 4 times with the allen key and then tighten the locknut.
