April Cruise - SA

Hi guys and gals in Adelaide....

After the awesome cruise we had last month, I think we should start thinking about the next Cruise....i suggest we try get something organised for April, after Easter etc.

Ive been thinking about ways to combine the idea of Go-Karting at Port Elliot that people were talking about along with a great drive. And I reckon ive mapped out a very good route that has long sweeping country straights, some twisties through Adelaide's most amazing country scenic drives, some city stuff and some freeway stuff! You will be impressed - its going to be an all-day cruise, and we could also do some night stuff if you guys reckon you have the stamina!

Oh - and Ive also included the option of go-karting at Port Elliot! Not to mention heaps of photo opportunities for the DOC to do his camera magic with your car!

The 21st suits me best as it gives me those extra couple of days to prepare the car for the journey.

it will be a case of the blue one or the silver one.

depends on what happens in the next week as to what i will do, if all goes well and everyone is free when im ready, the silver one will come out otherwise it may stay home.

the blue one needs a good flogging, and i will get in trouble if i ask my normal test pilot to do it, i'd kill to do it myself but it is extremely unsafe at the moment.

I think we should try for a saturday if possible that way, it leaves it open for those who want to continue the fun into the evening wihout the hassle of work the next day.

any thoughts as to the cost of go-karts etc, are we going for a trophy sort of thing or what.

I will say yes to the karts but I havent driven a kart in probably 15 years and I will probably suck ass at it. But at least it gives people something to laugh at.

Guys just got off the phone to Port Elliot Karting. :burnout:

They will do us a corportate deal for $40 each for a group of 15 or more people. This includes-

2 1/2 runs for 40 bucks. 1 run = 10 mins

Their normal rate is $20 for 1 run so it seems to be good value.

At the end of it they will judge who was the best driver and who was the worst ( spin outs etc.. ). prizes at the end

They need 2 weeks notice to book it in as they will be busy over school holidays. So we need to get numbers in ASAP.........

Good to see you back mate, its been a while. Im sure there are a few people that are keen to get their names on that trophy, should be a good day out thats for sure. Be interesting to see the final results on that stato, heard a few whispers on what was happening, but nothing was confirmed. Be good to have a barge on the cruise again :driving:

Its all good, ryan is great fun on the cruise, i never had a car that would keep up, and neither did he, so we didnt bring them, he is my fellow poor person on the cruises. and he gives me hamburgers when he comes through work, word up ryan.

Now now dan, dont go shoving me out the window, everyone will be upset that they dont get to see my photos if you do that :lol:

sorry Brock for jinxing you, i got new battery (gel style) but it was faulty then the shop was preparing another one for me but that was faulty aswell so new battery tommorow.

Yep - There are 3 types. They do have really fast ones that are twin engined, however I think you need a special licence to drive them. The Medium ones I believe are fast enough as they are ungoverned and go up to 60 kms an hour with cornering forces up to 4.0g's. Thats what we will be driving

I remember those twin engined ones, they looked like fun but i never had the cash to race 3 or 4 times a day to get the licence, they have some guidelines that you need to abide by on in so many races to get into one, but im sure once you get into one your up for some real fun

I'll have a car load of 4 but only three of us are racing(in the karts that is). Might get my mate to pilot so i can get some good footage on the way down. From memory people like to get a bit intimate along these roads, hey John?!;)

Your right Ute Force, we are a decent bunch of guys :deal: . There are many reasons for us not comming over which range from work commitments, financially not possible and some are just not into drags, amongst other reasons. Saying that, when are you comming out on one of our cruises, meet a few more of the locals, have a bit of fun and maybe you could drum up some more support and interest for next year.

Agree UTEFORCE -I am disappointed we are having the cruise during the ls1 nats as well. But there is more to it than you may believe.....

For starters - We took a vote for a date in April for a SA cruise and when would be the best weekend to have a cruise for everyones availability. Turns out we voted for 14 APRIL. The date I guess seemed to suit everyone and majority rules. Then when it was mentioned to us about the nats being on the same date well, it was too late to change. Damed if you do, damed if you don't ?

So - Little did most of us know that date we chose for the cruise happened to be the same time the LS1 nats were on in Vic. Why didn't anyone mention it when we where trying to pick a date? One of the reasons I believe is that the Ls1 nats event could of been better advertised and promoted !!

Why has such a high profile event not been advertised on the forum ie. Mention of it in the General section ( maybe a sticky ) where 99% of everyone views posts. Why hasn't ls1dotcom got on board with the event and become a major sponsor and then posted banners and links to the event. I have to agree with you John, these cruises have been going for a good 9 months with a monthly cruise.
Idea's are thrown around at the cruise for the next one to get an idea for the next one etc.

So Ute Force i know you have meet a few of the guys, and yes we are a great bunch of guys etc, why not come out and meet the rest of us, we are a social group with a common interest, with a broad cross section of jobs.

We dont promote any one business over the others as they all have good and bad points depending on who you talk to and what they wanted.

I understand the need to keep the threads on track in relation to the nationals but as we dont have a drag strip here in SA they tend to get forgotten about by some unlike those in the east.

And yes im sure that ute force wasnt having a go at anyone he is just dissappointed that the SA guys are having a cruise the same weekend as the nationals. Which is his opinion and he is entitled to feel that way.

i personally dont see the point in going all that way to the nationals and not competing, and i dont have the spare cash to spend on my car if something goes wrong along way from home, as cars are a hobby not an investment like a house. Guess it comes down to priorities, now if i had a car that i could write off expenses and repairs on my tax like some i would be there but i dont, good luck to those who can.

there are alot of us who would be interested in going to the nats but the timing of the nationals may not suit alot of people. being so close to easter and the clipsal. It was actually discussed at the end of the last cruise after a wonderful BBQ and SWIM but if you dont attend you wouldnt know what was discuss.

Yeah I agree Klink. We did discuss it and I was seriously pondering going over. At the end of the day though, my car is a stocker as all my money is going into a house at the moment and timing was bad as I wasnt sure which state I was going to be living in until two weeks ago. If I had the money to work my car and go over, then yeah sure, I would have loved to have gone.

It really doesnt matter though, we are going to have a great day. Theres an awesome route planned, excellent scenery along the way, some friendly competition and a chance to catch up with some great people with the same interests. Isnt that what its all about.

I know how it feels to be criticised about the cruise organising and I think that if anyone want to have a whinge they should either get involved(democratically and constructively) or SHUT THE F@CK UP!!!!

If people what to organise their own defect station, red and blue light attracting cruises involving burnouts in car park and constant street racing along anzac hwy then go pull yourself elsewere(its called the RCK club).

And as for the "BIG BOYZ" complaining about the dates. Were have you been for the last half dozen or more cruises???? You can go interstate to promote your products and write these trips off as marketing excersises but you can come back to the grass roots level and cruise with us guys who are really only interested in the social side of our interest in cars? And who knows, one day we may be looking for someone to provide us with some go fast bits for our toys and those who have taken the time to show us there machines will be the ones who get our business.

As for having passengers, nothing new mate, you know this, and im not a bad passenger, if something goes wrong, i just laugh, and ask, can we do that again??? And fords, well, if i can do 3k worth of damage to the arse end of one, just shows they build quality hey.




The cruise routes that this group goes on are some of the best in the state, yeah some people live life 400m at a time, but hey, anyone can make a car go fast in a straight line, its getting it to fast through the twisty bits that takes skill. At the end of each cruise there is always a discussion on the next cruise plans, and those that are there are generally involved in the planning of the next, and those that have made valid comments on the routes, well, their comments are taken into account.

The big boys are more than welcome on the cruises, show up, show your stuff, meet the guys and odds are, that your going to get some serious business from us when we have the cash. (or the car in my case:wave:) Everyone is keen to see these monsters of the road out and about, see what they can do and generally chat to the experts. It benefits everyone.

LS1 nats, again, as previously mentioned, was discussed, and although a lot of people were keen, it all comes down to finacial situations generally, as much as i would have liked to go, even without a car, i couldnt afford it if i tried. Id love to make it over, but alas, its not to be.

The night cruise will be a quiet one for me, for a change,

Thats it even out the load, i will have a couple in with me at this stage, but somehow i dont think that will slow me down to much.

The new fuel pump should do the trick for me to at least give me a sporting chance to keep up with you mate. (goes in thursday at this stage so i wont have a problem getting fuel to the motor):thumbsup:

hey all....

Thanks to a lot of people organising the day for us behind the scenes we now have the final details on this weekend's SA APRIL CRUISE.....

Date: SATURDAY 14 APRIL 2007

Meet Venue: KMart - Anzac Hwy Car Park (on the Side)

Meet Time: 9:30AM

Depart: 10AM heading south!

Route Details: Maps and detailed cruise route will be provided on the day (thanks to Paul - aka VYSSBLACK).

Go Karting at Port Elliot is booked for 2pm and will cost $42 per person. There will be a Trophy and a 6-Pack for the "best driver"!

For those who are interested, some people have suggested dinner (on the way back to Adelaide) somewhere in HANHDORF....this is a great idea!

So please indicate if youre keen to do dinner below.....and of course anyone else still wanting to come along, please put your name on the list too so we can wait for u....

Another Awesome SA LS1 cruise.

Thanks goes out to John(SSASSC1) for organising the gokarts, Zac (Zacz) for making it happen and everyone who attended.

The gokarts were awesome fun, and taking home the trophy was sweet :yahoo: . Now to build a mantle piece to put it on.

Deifinately going to have to do the karts again in the future.

Awesome mate. What are all the mods you've done! I took mine to D&T Dyno Dynamics dyno in the city yesterday morning & cranked out 221kw @ the rear wheels in shootout mode. Now to get a Mafless Edit/Tune...:thumbsup:
