Hi,
Just watched the VXR500 video on Fifth Gear (Uk TV) - and wanted to know what sort of mods would you need to do to a Monaro CV8 (LS1) to have a similar performance gain etc..?
Also - approximate costs etc..?
I guess the main mods are the Supercharger and Brake upgrade (Brembo?)
Also - with an Auto gear box - i'm guessing you'd need a stronger gearbox inplace?
Just a thought - might be a new project for me

not sure bout the brakes but they have a gm ripshifter and harrop blower so any performance shop can obtain that power, and i dare say a lot more...
ive seen the video, is a really good one...
hopefully someone can itemise the mods done to make the vxr500 better than me!

In regard to brakes im sure PWR or Harrop have something that would do the job the same if not better for a lot less $$$ (unless you're after an exact replica)
Auto - pfft just get a 6 sp - 1. they sound better than a droning auto and 2. they're tough enough to cop an absolute belting and with a rip-shift they feel pretty good to use as well.
If you must stick with the granny tranny a stallie and shift kit would be in order

The vxr500 has a Harrop ls112 blower , a remap of the engine management and an upgrading of the fuel injectors. The manual version has slight revisions made to the plumbing of the hydraulic clutch to ensure no overheating occurs.
The brakes on the one tested in Motor Magazine (Feb 2007) were AP six pistons on the front with 363 mm calipers, and four pot rears with 330 mm calipers. Also, a ripshifter is used to shorten the throw of the gearbox, and a stainless steel dual exhaust system is used. hope theres enough info to keep ya goin!!
