"73kms from new 2001 Holden Monaro CV8

Lot No. 35

Chassis No: 6H8V2X37F2L790015
Engine No: VF012330586
Reg: Unregistered
After the incredible demand created by a 2-door Monaro show car based
on Holden's popular Commodore, the company committed the model to
production. When launched, both 6-cylinder and V8 models were announced,
with the high-performance V8 being by far the more popular.
By special arrangement with Holden's chief designer at the time, Mike Simcoe,
the owners of this example were able to purchase the very first new Monaro
off the production line. They in fact bought other examples also, but this wellspecified
car was put aside, untouched. It was built in November 2001, in yellow
(D153) with black trim (81I) and yellow instrument faces, along with 6-speed
manual transmission. It has never been registered, and retains the various
factory tags which are normally removed for a car's use on the road.
This car has covered only 73km from new and remains in perfect condition in all
respects as any inspection would show. It shows test and delivery mileage only.
With the car is documentation from Holden confirming that it was the first
Monaro off the production line. "

est .$125000-$175000 for those interested .

Yeah, that's the late Trevor Young's car (owner of Biante).
He had 2 Monaro's, the 1st one of the production line (Yellow) and 1 of 6 Targa Tasmania Spec Monaro's (which is now mine :yahoo: ) built by The Monaro Performance Centre in Melbourne.
I also heard he bought the black Targa Tasmania monaro Brocky raced in Targa '04, I don't know where it is currently.......I've been keeping an eye out for it.

Very interesting, what a nice little asset!

Out of curiosity where is Monaro Performance Centre and what do they do, street cars, packages etc? website?

No way am I selling it.....I'm going to be buried in it.
Monaro Performance Centre are in Thomastown, Vic....... run by Greg Stevenson. As far as I know they don't advertise and do most of their work on race cars and have a hand in quite a few different race teams.

So I assume Trevor would have quite a few number 1 cars in his possession, wouldn't mind having a look in his garage sometime. Don't think the monaro is worth that much yet, maybe in a few decades.

That is pricey, considering the person who buys it will proably never drive it

Well it didn't sell, passed in at $95,000.

This was a bit more than I thought:
1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III - $605,000 - Melbourne Bidder sold. Apparently a little rough too.
