Not that hard but very expensive. Don't think you will get any change from $40,000 or $50,000 though.

I'm sure PT would be able to do it. Ring them up and see what they reckon.

My mechanic is putting an LS7 based motor into my monaro atm, i could put you in touch with them. It will be much cheaper than buying a factory crate motor, and a lot of your ancilliary LS1 parts will retrofit.

A search in the LS powertrain sub forum is where you need to look mate, as this is the wrong section. Plenty of info is already in this link....

would it be better to put a 408 stroker kit in the ls1 instead i didnt think it would be $40k i wont to spend around $15 to $20K what do u guys think
There so many options it so hard to no what to do
my target is to have around 500 to 600hp at the treads by the time i finished allready have the clutch and a new stronger tail shaft as i broke it at the drags a while back now all i need is the hp
It is my weekend driver and i take it to the drags although not that often at the moment but wont to get into it more seriously

thanks guys

Depending on what you already have you might get a 408 for that.

If stock you need a fuel system, full exhaust, tune and all the other little things that make it work. If you could get the whole lot done for $20,000 it would be a good price.

An LS7 by itself costs approx. $34,000.

If you get an LS7 you have to change the reluctor wheel on the crank so that computers in our cars can be used and there is a few other things that need to changed, so it not cheap.

You can buy the LS7 in the US for around $14k USD, so probably around $20k AUD landed (approx). Budget another $10k at least for fitting and sorting all the issues out, tuning etc, and that should be close.

$15-$20k will get you a mid range 408 making maybe 350 rwkw (depending on specs). There's no way you'll get anywhere near 600 rwhp without spending at least double that, close to 500 rwhp maybe.

You'd also need to factor costs for twin 3" exhaust and 1 7/8 headers ($3000 ish) + $2000 for a Tex clutch on top of $30k odd.

Yor 15-20 would be well spent on a nice little forged 346 with two turbos hangin from each side. 500-600hp, no probs.
