Hi guys. Just had a new Tex clutch fitted nearly 2 weeks ago (single plate Z grip). Street manners are perfect and would never guess that it was rated to something like 950nm. While on the street never had a problem with slipping etc. Went to a private day at WSID on sunday, first run reeled off a 12.7 @ 119mph with a bog down on the take off. Second run clutch slipped all though the warm up burnout, then slipped all through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (car would rev to 6000 but would still just pull slightly). At this point I was a little concerned for my new clutch. Was reccomended to wait aprox 30 mins and let it cool down. After this cool down period I then hit the track again and ran an 11.7 @ 123mph (with decent ridding of the clutch as reccomended). I done this continously for at least 8 passes within minutes of each other with not even the slightest of problems. The clutch was now perfect and has not missed a beat since. Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on here? Also too I noticed at a couple stages through the day it was hard to select 2nd and 3rd gear, but maybe my clutch foot was getting a little lazy. Any input here would be appreciated, I can only assume for now that it wasnt quite bedded in properly which caused the slipping. All up I managed an 11.5 @125mph and pretty average 1.8 60ft

Hows you fluid level. Could be a leaking slave causing your slip. Is it a X or a Z. If its a Z there is certainly something to look into there. Contact Pete to find out for sure.

mine slipped badly one day, addmittingly i was giving it alot of shit.
now it tends to slip if I go through the hills a bit, just never slips when I take it in and get it checked lol :cussing:
I still think its slips a bit in 1st if I hammer it, and I really dont have that much power....

Hi, 11.5 is good with your set-up.

Go use that clutch and let us know when it worn out.... I spoke to Girch yesterday (your installer) and we reckon you ran over a pile of WISD goop with your street tyres on that run.

Enjoy the clutch and give us a bell if ever you have any real issues.

Cheers!

Pete

I know slightly off topic but those are some good times! If you dont mind me asking, what mods do you have? What power figures are you pulling?

Hi, thanks the times werent to bad, it was kind of what I was hoping for the first few runs, just need to improve the 60ft now. As for mods its a single turbo T51R setup (11.5psi on the day), all custom made running stock 3.46 ratios and tex clutch. Car was full weight on the day minus a headlight (1690kgs without me in it). As for power figues Im not exactly sure as it was all tuned on the street by girch but would realistically be around 400rwkw which explains the high mph. I was very happy though with the cars consistency though as nealry all my runs are right on 123 to 124 mph.

Pete, just so you know I believe your product is an excellent one and am quite impressed with the way it drives and is able to withstand such large torque, however I would consider my tyres not spinning at all during the warm up burnout a "real" issue. Im pretty confident a pile of goop did not cause my engine to rev to 6K and my wheels not spin. Also keep in mind that 2 other cars with identical clutches on the day had similar issues with them and came good (all clutches were recently fitted by girch). I am not nocking the product at all, however all I would like is an honest possible reason for what happened (i.e. is it a bedding in problem?) as this does not seem like normal behavior, especially to just come good like it has and hasnt missed a beat since with back to back runs. If I can help in any way just give me a bell
