it said svz production was for may build. 7 months seems like a long runout.

it does rather...
unless they just want to finish up with it and have a few months "ute free"

SVZ is a limited edition SV6 UTE, like Thunder 2 is a limited edition SS UTE. I have not seen a base ute for ages.

They do these packs to help clear the decks at end of year and end of model.

Does anybody know a bit more about the specs of this ute?
Any Holden insiders???
Does anybody know how "performance" the brakes are as they're described as "performance red". Is that the extent of their performance credentials, being red?
I've got one on order, I'm hoping that in a couple of years I'll be able to talk the boss into an SS. Baby steps...

Thanks but all the SVZ Ute web site says is that they are "red performance brakes" which is why I was asking the question, "are they actually upgraded brake calipers or are they just the standard (entry level) items painted red?"

My old man is looking at getting one of these utes, seen one at the dealer today.

They appear to be the brakes that were on the Thunder utes, they say PBR2 on them, red calipers, etc.

I Bought one of these Utes last week, and the overall package is pretty damned good.

Well im happy with it, in regards to the upgraded brakes i have been informed by a holden mechanic that they are the brakes used on one of last years model HSV clubsports not the R8 one.
But they stop pretty damn quick.

i would post sum pics of what my Red SVZ ute looks like with dark tint, but need to be validated before i can post pictures so if anyone could do this for me it would be appreciated.

Cheers Vaughan.

I should be picking mine up tomorrow if the lease company can pull their finger out.
Good to hear the brakes are not just standard stoppers painted red. I guess I'm a little cynical.

You sound pretty happy with yours, no little issues I might want to check before driving off into the sunset?

I'm getting the tray liner. I was tossing up between that and the rubber mat. The mat may turn out to have been the better option as most things that will end up in back will be small heavy items that will probably skid around on the plastic. I guess I'll just have to tie everything down. (Yes this is my first ute).

Looking forward to getting it though. I test drove an SV6 ute and it felt nice.
Hopeing the great puchase value off-sets it's inevitable devaluation as soon as the VE ute is released...

To the guys that have brought one.
Did you get a Auto or Manual???

And why is there a power difference between the 2???
Manual says 187kw
Auto says 190kw

Cheers

I have A Nickel Metallic SVZ ute on order, I went with the auto, as I won't be doing bucketloads of k's in it, but the ones that I do are in peak hour crawl.

Test drove one brakes felt fairly reasonable (after stepping out of my STi) pulled up well a few times (salesman was a bit nervous). Overall package is pretty nice and great for the $'s.

Going with the tray liner as the ute is to carry my Banshee and spare tyres for my Elfin Clubman (when I get it). Will end up with the non-slip rubber mat as well as a tray liner, as without the tray liner the inside will look second hand pretty quick, looking for a liner that covers the lip at the top as that usually cops a battering - the Holden liner stops a couple of incehes from the top.

I prefer manuals so that's what I've ordered (should have picked it up today except the lease company is dragging it's feet). The five speed auto is apparently a much better piece of kit than the crap 4 speed which I've got in the family VYII wagon.

No idea why the power difference. Maybe they've eased it back a smidge on the manual because it doesn't have traction control like the auto. The torque is the same though so there is a flaw in that theory. 3 kw is bugger all anyway. Maybe it evens out the better performance the six speed manual MAY have over the five speed auto....

To each their own. Manuals seem to be snapped up quicker on the second hand market too...

Picked it up this afternoon, at last.
Only drove it home which was all of 40kms but very happy with it.
Looking forward to seeing it in daylight as it was dark when I got it.

I was going to go with the SVZ, but decided I could justify the extra $$'s for an SS Thunder...

My lease company managed to find me the last manual silver Thunder, 6-speed in the country (or so the dealer told them)...

Take delivery in a week or so...

REALLY!!! looking forward to it :-)

One thing I am trying to find out though - does the Thunder have electronic throttle control? No dealer could tell me, as they didn't know!
