Gday.

Ive been looking for a cheap ute (10-12k) for a while now.

Found after much searching a very tidy vs series one ute (95 model)

Its a base model i think, manual, air con, very tidy and well looked after, and a tacho dash?

I was pretty sure they didn't come with tacho instrument cluster option, which makes me worried thats the low mileage might be because the cluster has been swapped over. No logbooks makes it even more concerning.

Did these utes come with a tacho cluster option? Is there a place i can find out?

Thanks, Andy

My VS Berlina Wagon has a tacho.

She spends a bit of time all over the place.

my VS I and VS III utes didn't have tacho's...
they were both base model ones though...
i would guess it to be an option back in the day... the tacho isn't really needed anyway.
in a manual car the limiter of the V6 with standard diff gears is 60kph in first... 105kph in second... 150kph in third... 210kph in fourth... 210 in fifth (speed limited at 210kph mine was)...
things sound a little harsh and suicidal at them revs with that motor but!!!

you should have bought my old ute!!! i sold that yesterday for 10k... coulda come to WA and driven it across... undersold it me thinks but it had to go to make room for the Maloo
it was a 99 series II with 96k and 18's and dropped, V6 manual with AC and not bench seat but not S pack...

Im fairly certain the 'S' came std with tacho dash, as did all VS sedans/wagons. The pov pack ute however im not sure of.

I think you'lll find early VS utes (S included) didnt have central locking
either, and power windows and cruise didnt come till later.

If anyone knows more Id be interested to hear too.

All the best with it, those ecotecs are pretty bulletproof too.

thanks everyone for the replies

So series one VS was the ecotec 145kw right?

Would i be right in saying that the VT factory v6 supercharger gear would bolt on with no major dramas? just to give it a little extra go?

The VS ecotec was 147kw, then it was upped about 5kw in the VT. You would be able to bolt on the factory supercharger M90, but probably better off with a complete engine swap to the factory supercharged engine as it has different internals and compression. Or get an aftermarket kit from yella terra or other brand.

Stock utes did NOT come with a tacho. S pac and subsequent VS SS utes did.
