does anyone know the legalities regarding window tinting a van (vito). i will obviously not do the windscreen and will only go as dark as legal on the driver and passenger windows. in the cargo area i have 4 windows plus the rear, it is these that i want to almost black out. any help greatly appreciated
thanks

As far as I know driver and passenger have to be 35% or higher, front window can't be tinted and anything else can be as dark as you like.

didnt someone on here say that insurance refused to payout bcs of illegal tint after accident?

I thought they couldn't refuse to payout unless the tint somehow contributed to your accident?

being illegal darkness can prevent perfect vision, so i guess they can say quite easily that you couldnt see properly due to dark tint.( i would expect)
Not first hand experience but i remember reading something about it and it does seem logical.

Well if you crash into some guy in front of you then the tint hardly has any contribution right?

Thats what i would think, if the windscreen is not tinted it cant have anything to do with it.
Like I said, not first hand experience, but surely someone here had some.

You can go to the RTA web site and download all the legal requirement regarding window tinting. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi03_rev3.pdf .
Hope this helps :)
Also I forgot to mention if you have an accident with illegal tints I have had 1 friend of mine whose insurance company viod his claim due to having illegal tints done so be careful
