I just ordered a new VE SV6 this week and note that the model code has now changed from MY07 (model year 07) to MY08 (model year 08). Does anyone know if there are any changes/upgrades/improvements associated with this change?

As far as I know it's only minor changes in trim in some models, and nothing much on SV6. Don't need to change much on a winning combination.

Minor changes in trim...a better interior for the Calais maybe? (My parents live in hope...)

lol, we are only 4 months into 07.
Holden getting a little carried away me thinks.

I think you will find it is much less (particularly the things you cannot see) not more ... which is a real shocker but that is how Holden and Ford have been for a while ... probably the reason why the last Commodore lost weight between VT and VY :D If there was more through every iteration then surely it would have gone up in weight or at least stayed the same (as a result of weight saving measures that countered any additions).

One of the changes might be the swap of the Berlinas wood strip for a plain silver one. Looks better IMO.

That certainly looks a lot better! I can't say I've seen many Berlinas around - maybe 3 or 4. Compared to the dozens of Omegas, Calais, SS, SV6.

I just took a look at that Berlina link and notice it's talking about a '180 kw' engine. Have they increased the 170 or decreased the 190?

When talking to one of the salesman at Youngs holden he was saying that he had only a couple of people that had liked the Wood Trim on the Berlina ..in my opinion that is a couple to many , it was the shi@#est combo i have ever seen put me straight of a Belina :cussing:

Does anyone know whether the plain silver strip can be added to any model.
i.e. have a sv6 with plain black and think the silver would look good and match the dials and door locks

The strip just pulls off. Would imagine that it would just be a case of ordering in a silver strip through parts and pushing it back into place.
Yes the Berlina now has a silver strip and the "woodgrain" is gone. Good riddance.

VE Berlina/ Omega went to 180kw. The 172/175kw was VZ. The VZ 190kw went to 195kw in VE

In VE its always been 180kw for lower spec and 195kw for upper.
America use the term MY07 and stuff etc heaps more then in Aus, and even if a car is released in 07 its still reffered to as a MY08. I don’t know if we follow the same trend… ive even confused myself
EDIT: Beaten to it :bawl: ............. ;)

Only problem is that the Berlina/Calais use the horizontal centre stack while the SV6/SS use the vertical stack. Have a look at the pic again and you will notice the strip goes the whole way across the dash where as the SV6/SS ones are slit into two by the centre stack.
BTW, I want to do that too to my SS-V :)

Bugga! At least the earlier Berlina owners can change the woodgrain over to silver and Calais owners can change to Calais-V aluminium if they want.
Unless someone wants do do an exercise and cut the Berlina trim shorter and see if it can be modified to fit the SV6/SS??? The cost may be prohibitive especially if it doesn't work. The parts cost around $150. Incidently there are 2 parts, joined just right of the stereo.

I'd suggest that if Holden didn't change anything it would be good for 06/07 resale values. Do what the Europeans do - keep a model for 2+ years without any changes, and even then make them subtle.

Its just a change in Holdens Model codes and also slight trim changes. Nothing to get excited about.

I've seen quite a few older drivers in Berlinas, the maroon and dark blue seems popular and they look smart with the sprinkle of chrome in the grille. Holden's done well in pitching the car against the target market segments as all the trims look good but still distinct.

you'd be better off pulling off what you've got and going to someone like the dashboard doctor. for $150 he could do whatever pattern on there you wanted.

That looks good. Looks like the SV6/SS gets them as well, judging by the cloth seat thim?

Anyone have an idea as to the cost of these silver stripes and are they hard to install?

Eddie - PM me if you are interested as I should be able to do a fair bit better than that price above. My red ones took all of 2 mins to put in, most of that because on the driver's side one the clip above the steering wheel tends to hang on and didn't want to break it.
