Im going to be buying either a VTII clubby auto or a WH statesman.
For the past 7yrs Ive been playing with toyota supras but always wanted a V8.
Just like a few pointers on what to look out for when buying these cars. Anything in particular to watch out for in either of these models?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Mik.

At this price range don't get hung up on Ks travelled.....look at condition / condition / condition........the way a car is maintained tells much history on the previous owners respect for his vehicle….or lack of it ..
Engines and A4's are nowadays easily replaced. a mint condition interior and flawless bodywork is not....having said that a sensible combination of K's and condition will serve you well.
I've just sold one WH Statesman with 216000Ks on board..same car is the quickest unopened LS1 powered Statesman in AUS.. and has never missed a beat...
Finally a pre purchase inspection by any of the forum sponsors is highly recommended, if you wish to avoid future heartache after purchase

Good luck :driving:

Just sold our WH II with 127000k's for 19K.
Things we replaced over 4 years:
Power steering hoses weep, needed replacing. (Under reservoir), leaks onto alternator.
Belt tensioner. Failed at 60000k's
Front castor bushes. Replaced with nolathane units about $120 for the kit.
AC Stepper motor for vacuum functions failed. $300 to replace. Make sure all zones work properly on AC.
Rear tyres every time we towed trailer to Perth!!:cussing: SSV doesn't do this:yahoo:
Side panel of drivers seat that the switches are mounted on for power seat breaks easily, plastic lugs can snap off and it hangs away from seat and just looks ugly.
Watch out for Piston Slapping Gen III's
Had a VT II sedan with V6 for a while as well.
Both were great cars, good luck with it.
