ok here is the story:

went to a certain tyre store this arvo (name may be the same as the brand of tyres) and got two new tyres.

1st problem - they almost forgot to give me back my locknut socket
2nd problem - they reckon I need new front brake pads (after 25000K)!
3rd problem - got home and noticed that the left front tyre should be on the right front and vice versa (directional tyres)
4th problem - went back to the tyre place no more 15 mins later and they had shut down the compressed air so they couldn't swap the tyres until the morning. no worries, won't be going back anyway as I need the brakes fixed and the person who fixes the brakes can swap the wheels.

now for some help please:
- does anyone know of a brake place in Phillip (in the ACT) that will replace the pads tomorrow, given that my SS is salary packaged?
- or do I have to get my friendly holden dealer to replace the pads as the tyre place claims?

Just grab some pads from wherever and change 'em yourself. Piece of pi$$.

(Assumes you have a trolley jack and some spanners of course...)

good idea, but I don't have a trolley jack, so that does not help, plus my salary packaging has already taken money from to pay for such things (replacing brake pads). I don't think they would be happy to reimburse me.

Sounds like you don't have much choice then.

ok a final update on this.....tried a number of places to get the brakes done, and understandably most could not.

anyway, got the car squeezed in at Comm Motors in Tuggeranong, and they looked at the brakes and said they will make the next service at least. so that was good news. they also swapped the front tyres for me.

special thanks to Kit from Gentech who I spoke to this morning and was willing to have a look and possibly replace them. I'm sorry I couldn't take up your generosity, however it was only because I needed to come back to work this arvo. I will certainly consider Gentech when my bank balance is healthy enough to consider mods.

as for the tyre place, I would highly recommend that no one visit them.

Kit says no problem. He is glad you got them checked. Better to be safe than sorry!!
