View Full Version : Vy11 Ss Wag Price?
Evening,
Hope this is not the wrong forum, if so Mods please move!
Having a look at a VY11, Nov 2004 REG SS Wagon. Black, 30k 18" with Toyos.
It is at a dealer and the asking price is $41k, plus on roads!
They have dropped it to $39K but having a look around the online sites I still reckon that it is too steep.
Would appreciate some feedback.
Cheers,

Ive got an 11/04 ss wags mate, bought it last almost 1 year ago.
All options except sunroof, had 18s on it, twin 2.5 stainless xforce.
I think after onroads, tint, upgraded alarm, protection, wheel swap for my gts 19s it worked out to 39k. She had 53k on the clock.
I think the price may be a little steep but thats the way it is when you want something rare.
I never see any for sale, when I do they sell really quick.
Have a go at crunching them with an offer, at the end of the day they paid much, much less for it so maybe you will get them to a price you like.
If its the ss wagon you want then a few thousand bucks difference could mean missing the sale and searching for a long time.
Good luck mate.
Mine was a 6 speed too.

It's 3 years and two models old, the dealer is on smack.
My '05 VZ SS had leather / climate etc, 19kms, and they wanted $39,990. After a week of haggliing i drove away with it for 33k, and i still reckon i paid about a grand too much... The car is immaculate though, and you always pay a bit extra through a dealer.
That should give you an idea of how much you can hammer them down. The SS wagons are a bit scarce but i wouldn't pay anymore than 30k for one mate. Look privately on carsales.com.au etc, you might see one for low to mid 30's and get it for 30k.
Good luck with the search !! :)
Cheers,
Paul...

usual price seems to be around 35k in nsw
BUT they seem to be up for sale for a long time at that price, no way would i pay 10k over the price of the vy11 sedan

that does sound pretty steep!
high thirty's to low forty's can get a VZ SS pretty easy!
it is a wagon, but i don't think they are that much more expensive than a sedan!
my 2c

I've looked a few times in the past and they still seem to fetch low-mid 30's no problem in a private sale. I was offered $29k trade in (if i reverted to stock) on a VE SS not long ago so they are still worth good $$$ and mine is 6/2003. They are rare and desirable, and that one sounds good (low kms) so if you could get it for $35k you'd be doing well.
Evening,
Does the fact that it is a manual add or detract from the price?
One other aspect that is a bit of a concern is that it had its 1000k service and then did not have another, by the books until 19000!
Apart from the fact that it was slack on behalf of the owner, does it raise any concerns in relation to the state of the motor?
It has only done 30k and has until November on new car warranty
Had they well and truly sorted out the Piston Slap issue by the VY11?

Ok we know that SS Wgns are rare.
But they also look like they are quite popular
with them selling quite quick 2nd hand...
So why has holden not made more of them??:werd:
So now i wonder if they might make them avail
in the VE when the Wgn comes out...

I have looked around, 1 is on there now for 36500 private, 03 model with 100k.
I know the prices are high but the thing is there are no other cars to compare to the ss wagon.
Berlina 5.7 is a totally different thing.
What else does anyone make for similar cash with a 6speed 5.7, spoilers, mags leather sports interior etc in a wagon..........
NOTHING.
I didnt wanna pay what I paid for mine but after looking at a heap over 18 months it was the best deal I had come across.
I wanted a gen3, dont really like the berlinas interior or the stockish look, needed a wagon, wanted a manual so I bought the only thing out there and have no complaints.
You cant compare them to ss sedan prices, how many thousand ss's do u see on the road everyday? there wasnt even a thousand ss wagons made.
Like drew said they offered 29 on a tradein, so what private u will get 1 for 30?

Have a look on carsales?
all the 03 models are 35-37, there is 1 with 130kms or more for 29990 but that is like 4years worth of kms more than the one he is looking at.
The dealer wagons are 38-40.
The guy is looking at an 04 november build that will be a certified holden vehicle and less kms than all those cars.
Obviously he would be able to crunch them a bit for a better deal.
What are his options?
Buy a year older with 25kms more on the clock with a few less options for what a few g less?
A few g is always nice to save but I dont reckon its worth going back a year in model and forward a year in kms for 2 g.

Hogs, get it checked out by your workshop and if all ok just do it. You won't regret it, these things are awesome :)

One other fact is that the car still has factory warranty until Novemeber so you could get any problems fixed under new car warranty and not even have to have Holden service the car to maintain it as they usualy require for their used car warranty.
If an independent check did find any issues you could easily have them fixed and the dealer wouldn't have a problem with this as it's still under the NCW.
This alone could be worth the extra $$$ if you really want this car.

Hi Fellas. I'm considering selling my wagon. Took me a year to find mine after almost settling for a sedan. Was just Traded in same day when I went to look at a sedan at South Melbourne Holden. Had to snap it up right there and then or it would have gone. Having a hard time letting it go, cause it may hold it's value for years to come. Got mine for $37,000 + on roads 18 months ago , with 38,000 on the clock. Got the dealer to throw some aftermarket 18's on it it and a Towbar. Looking around prices now, selling for the same price I bought it for!
2004 VY2 SS Quicksilver
Grey leather interior
6 speed Manual
Tinted windows
76,000 on clock
Climate Control (standard on series 2 with Manual Trans)
18 x 8.5 inch Speedy Spider wheels
SS Inductions CAI
Under Warranty until June.
I need convincing to sell or keep it.
Am considiering going all out on an earlier model LS1 sedan instead. I've always had wagons and am looking for a change.

G'day HOGS,I bought my auto 03 wagon november last year, from a dealer for 26 500 with 90ks on it .RED , pacemakers, exhaust and almost perfect paint and interior. Fist day it was advertised and there were atleast 5 or more people and couples looking at it and they didn't budge on price. They were spewing they advertised at that price and i couldn't resist. The rest is history. Silver is the rarest colour 175 I think. Low kays, manual and a great motor that unless thrashed should still be fine without the service ,though not ideal, get it checked out and make an offer.I would love a silver manual 04 and that price is what it would be going for in W.A as there has been a black manual 04 with 40ks on it advertised over here for that price.WAGONS LOOK BEST.Cheers Cam:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I was the only one at the dealership with a smile on my face.I did feel sorry for the guy who got there first but was waiting for his misses to arrive. She got there when i got back from the test drive only to take it for a drive herself and get back to find out I'd put a holding deposit on it.I don't know who's neck he wanted to wring mine or hers.He was NOT HAPPY JAN !
