do a search mate, I think u will find that ss inductions are not the way to go at all.
From memory they cost about the same as the good setups that everyone else use.
Arent they like 500bux?

as replied in your other post

first thing is to get in contact with some of the forum sponsors in your area.
opinions of the SS kits on here arnt that great...

You got 2 ways you can get the intake done, either 4" intake pipe with the 2 hole mod on the standard airbox. looks stock but gives good increase and induction sound

or

OTR (Over the Radiator) Intake. do a search on OTR and you will get enough info to keep you busy the rest of the day.

Of course you can/would go the mafless tune when getting one of them done.

I got 3.5" catback from Sureflo, and the 4" intake pipe with 2 hole mod with a mafless tune done from APS and got me to 238rwkw!

Cheers,
Adrian

whats this two hole mod and do you need a dyno after a mafless tune and is $600 the go for mafless tune

vxclubby85
08-04-2007, 11:37 PM
do a search on it

basically a second hole is put in the standard airbox

it should be dyno'd while getting the mafless tune and $600 is cheap!

where did you get that price?

make sure you go somewhere where they know what they are doing!

I thought mafless was around 1000.
Dont make the mistake of going to a place that dont know what they are doing, it will cost you double.
2 hole mod will cost u 100 for a panel filter, the rest is cutting out a hole in the box and removing some plastic.
Or go for over the radiator which will cost u less than ss inductions and everyone on here swears by them.

mafless tune at autobarn...

:hide:

i wouldn't.. but thats just me

i think you will find that its not a proper custom tune, as tuners do on the dyno.

you can pickup mail order mafless tunes for the $600 mark, im sure its a similar thing from the autobarn store. but not sure..

If u gonna do it, do it properly.
U see too many people making the mistakes and costing them big bux to do it 2x.
One of the benefits of this forum is you can use other peoples experience to find the choice for yourself without the headache and empty pockets of trial and error.

Auto barn are not a performance car super store, why tune your car some where that will also sell you FOR SALE stickers?

Do it right, do it once. Give one of the sponsers a call mate, that way you wont regret it.

cheers, Luke

2 hole mod will cost u 100 for a panel filter

Only if you want to save a few bucks in the long term by
having a reusable filter, otherwise you can stick with the
paper filter and the 2 hole mod only costs you about an hour ;)

I can't comment on autobarn port macq, but some dont know a life outside the metro area. In some regional areas workshops/speedshops could actually be the local autobarn franchise as well ,so before we knock him we don't know. But i too would be very dubious esp. @ $600 !:p

Be wary....
$600 for a mafless is only a mail order or run of themill tune...just approximate
full custom mafless tunes are $1000 and upwards??

That depends on who you go to mate. There are people out there who charge a lot less.

K-Mart Tyre and Auto have a special on mafless tunes when combined with a set of 4 Goodyear SuperSqueal X-rated tyres and a lube job. They'll throw in free twin overhead ashtrays if you call in the next 10 minutes.

What a complete load of rubbish basing the quality of a tuner or tune on price alone. There is a shitload more to assessing the quality of a product based on price alone. There are definitely people out there who can produce the results for less than the accepted norm and have the follow-up service to match. My advice is do not discount a small business or a person's capability based on price.

If you wanna be wary, be wary of everyone. I'll be willing to bet a lefty that there are several people getting around that have paid good money and not got what they paid for - I'll also be willing to bet, although I'll doubt they will divulge, that sponsors of this forum have had to fix up other 'pro tuner' fcuk ups.

Be sceptical of everyone, ask questions and get some substance prior to discounting people you know nothing about, just because someone on here doesn't know them doesn't mean they are not capable. If questions cannot be answered or quality cannot be evidenced then there are probably issues but shit canning someone from another state because the price is good holds little merit in my book.

Luke is right your kidding yourself. Just because you don't work for a premium sponsor doesn't mean you don't know how to tune. It's possible that this guy from autobahn does it as a hobby and offers his skills to help people out with a cheap alternative. There are alot of us on here that do the same thing. I've done a few cars and everyone of the owners has been thrilled with the result. If I asked people for $1500 for a custom MAFLESS tune. Would it be any better than if I did it for cost ($100US). I have a comfortable day job working on Aircraft and I tune for a hobby for myself and as a service to others but not to earn a living. If people are really interested in it buy the gear and do it yourself. EFI LIVE or HP Tuners can be purchased for under a grand. Thats less than what most shops charge for a tune alone. Then you can tune to your hearts content. Sure there is a lot to learn but it gets easier with time and a lot of reading.
