Hi Guys,
The WH stalks are really driving me crazy, especially the dicky cruise control buttons you have to press. Can I change them over to the series II rotatable ones, or is it not able to be done?
Appreciate any assistance

I changed my square VT one for a VY/VZ? round one, no problems but a bit fiddly. The actual stalk just slots in to the same spot no problems, but the wiring plugs are different and use different wire colours.
So I just used a multimeter to map out which wires are used for each indicator/high beam/cruise button on each stalk, then cut the wires on each stalk and joined up the new ones with wire connectors. Takes a few minutes, but not hard.
I'll see if I can find where I wrote down the colours/functions for each stalk...
I like the round one a lot better and will swap the windscreen wiper one too when I get time. I suspect this would also require new mapping of wire colours too?

To do mine, I used a multi-meter to check wire for wire, then spliced new ends into the loom, retaining the exisiting plugs ends, should I ever wish to revert.
I bought an indicator plug for the new model off a wrecker who cut it out of a loom for me. When a few months later I decided to do the wiper stalk aswell, the car that he already chopped into the loom for me, was gone. He didn't have another. :(
So I went looking through an electrical components catalogue, and found that the radio plug for a Diahatsu was the same as the one that plugs into the wiper stalk. Well ... I thought it looked simliar, so I bought one and it was thje perfect fit  :yahoo:

Yes - it was a little time consuming looking through a 300+ page publication inspecting a crummy picture of every type of connector, but it was worth it :)
Its an Aeropro connector (most places sell aeropro - you might need to get supercheap to order the right plug in for you) AP711398D
Much later, after I had painstakingly mapped out the colours for myself (their is a wiring change from VT to VX-II+) Someone posted this .... which of course also leads to .... USE THE SEARCH !!!! :p

Good luck - its a great upgrade !!!
One of the better one's i've done, as you get to enjoy it every time you turn a corner - unless you're one of those types that think indicating isn't necessary between experienced drivers :D

Great thanks for the info and pics seedyrom! The wife actually has a Diahatsu and I'm about to swap her radio for my old one - how's that for coincidence! So I might be able to use that plug for my wiper stalk :) ...

i honestly dont find anything wrong with the square stalk. seems pretty straight forward with me. obviously the olds find it hard to use, but hey, thats why they dont drive it

Is there a VX2 wiper stalk that has a variable speed knob like the calais/statesman VR's? for this retro fit?
Oops, just noticed the conversion diagram text mentions it, so I guess a VX2 Calais would....
