G'day Guys,

A good friend of mine wants to fit a Monaro Bonnet to his VZ SS..

He knows he can get a Fibre Glass one, but i queried the legalities of that, and it's protetion.. So his question was how can he get the metal one modified to suit his car... Soooo.... I thought i would put the question to you guys in the hope that someone has done it, and can give me some contacts etc to pass onto him.

Any information would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Paul.

Man I went down that road but in the end I just gave up, had 2 shops look at the Idea
you can however buy one from a dealer (On Ebay ) who modifies the metal bonnet to suit but the vents are still only fibre glass tacked on, $ 1800 & transport costs

But there are some fairly good glass bonnets around, but not for me.

Can he buy one direct from Holden and get it painted to suit or try the wreckers? I bought a new bonnet for a VS a few years ago and was about $700 un painted and dealer painted to suit for $150. Good luck with it.

Buy a monaro bonnet and cut them out then weld them into the VZ bonnet done. :teach:

VZ monaro bonnet is a direct fit on a VZ SS

Its the Vy that is the harder 1 to make fit on.

Call Amcap or your local dealer.

Well I have a VZ SS front windscreen forward and trying a new monaro bonnet didnt have the same line where they meet different at the headlight & bar and hung over 12mm or some thing.

Hey tonner is your tonner a VY..??

the part numbers for the vz and vy windscreen are the same , sedan and ute.
as are the guards on vy and vz except for the ss which has flutes.

the only difference is the vz monaro gaurds are different and the headlights and bumper.

Look at it this way...

A monaro bonent can be fitted to VY/VZ ALTHOUGH the black plastic at the bottom of the front window where it meets the bonnet needs to be trimmed at the ends and rejoined(plastic welded) and the monaro bonnet needs to have the front rhs/lhs edges trimmed to siut the VZ/VY head lights.:teach:

I know of two guys that have monaro bonets one a VY Ute and the other on a VZ Maloo.

My 2c anyway

Its Vz from the doors forward gaurds bonnet bar support panel plastic trim at the screen ( maybe the same as vy but it was replaced)

as I said here,

It just looked so wrong st the front where it met the bar and headlights,

it would be better for me to just cut the centre out of a monaro bonnet and fit it into a propper vz bonnet.

I would love to see pics of the monaro bonnets you all have seen on a vz ss like to see it meeting the VZ bar and lights,

why do you mention that? I know that ,

Ok this is not gospel but I have heard that the fibreglass ones do not always sit flush with your guards.. some have corners that stick up a little and that they aremore prone to flex out of shape sometimes??

Anyone else heard this??

Yep one out of ten fit's unless they are fitted from the company that makes im it seems.

One guy in town got one for VR SS and after the third one gave up. All where either twisted, stick up one corner or will not close etc etc etc

The glass ones Ive seen here in qld are a pretty good fit, I think if you look at some of pageys pics it fits pretty dam good, I believe they make 3 different models vt-vx, and vy and vz
and the oem metal vz year monaro fits nicely on the vt - vx

If you guys want Monaro bonnets, buy a Monaro, the bonnets dont look right on anything else, its the same as putting vz ss badges on a vx or even worse something a lot older like a vs
