Hey guys I'm new to this forum but can already see that it has a wealth of information, well done.

I was just wondering if anyone knows why Holden deleted the radiator shroud from the on the later VE 8's ? I did actually do a search but couldn't find anything definite.

Also just a note, my magnificent SSV is supposed to have 11 speakers, I could only find 9, according to Holden customer service the rear door speakers are twin coned and therefore count as 2 ????? Some creative advertising I think.

Keep up the good work

Hey,

Yes i was also quite shocked when i first opened the bonnet on my new VE SSV only to discover the nice neat and tidy radiator shroud was missing. I immediately took it back to the Holden dealership to ask why its missing, it seems on all 07 VE's, they discontinued it for whatever reason.

I ended up buying one from Coventry's for $24, Genuine Holden Part also which is good, what stung me was the part was only $24, while the screws required to fit it, those little plastic push in things with the screw, for 5 was an additional $10!, almost half the price of the whole radiator shroud.

Oh well, it was DEFINATELY worth the purchase, it just didnt look complete without it, it now looks VERY neat and tidy, the way it should be.

But I guess Holden really needed to save the whole $1 that it probably cost to produce the shroud. (not impressed)

If you dont have a Coventry's in your state, then try any auto parts supplier, as they are definately available.

Thanks

mine and a mates ssv's both came without the plastic cover.
He rang our dealer and they sent one each for us including the clips, free of charge :yahoo: :yahoo:

Yep, that exactly correct. When I took delivery I asked the dealer the same question. We both spent about 10 minutes going over the car, reading the manual and checking with other salesman. They ended up having to give me a call a week later to tell me about the two cone thing

Also you will probably find two locking lugs that are missing behind the bonnet hinges in the windscreen/wiper cowling. If you have a look you will see they are missing. This was pointed out to me kindly by Pilbara SSV ;)

I hit em up for the clips at my 3000k service. none in stock.
I asked them to send them to me, (live 1500k's from perth) wouldnt do it being warranty job. :cussing:
Its like 2 little push in clips!!!!

wow thats pretty bad over 2 clips. at stock take we were always about 50 of the buggers down lol. Our service manager was forever walking round mumbling "i'm not paying for it" still does i think...

It seems stupid some of the cost cutting they do.
Getting rid of Side body moulds and exterior badges is fine (everyone likes smooth body lines) but a plastic shroud under the bonnet. thats a bit silly rly. Ppl like tidy engine bays..

As L98-SSV wrote dont pay a cent, the dealer should supply free of charge as your car is not finished!!!!!!!!!!
It only took one phone call and a bit of sweet talking and you should get the clips and cowling for nothing if delivery wasn't to long ago. (Dont do your agget as you get a lot more out of people by being nice than being aggressive, you can always be aggressive when nice doesn't work!!!!!)To sweeten the deal tell the dealer you will buy the $40 odd boot lid carpet and finish the back of the car as well. Looks heaps better with carpet fitted, i have always been a holden lover but when i opened my bonnet and a FORD freak pointed out that there was a few bits missing, i was pretty pissed off. What were they thinking. I wonder if i wrote a letter to Holden would anything change? Very tight assed in deed!

i may be wrong with the speaker thing but possible the front speakers are a split speaker and the tweeters are mounted on the dash so the front speakers also are classed as 4 speakers

just maybe not sure

hey SV8er that definately looks neater, think I'll go hit up the dealer tomorrow,
would love to know what the go is with the clips near the bonnet hinges.
I have fitted the carpet to the boot lid, looks alot better, finishes it off nicely, highly recommend it.

Hey guys, just wondering if someone has a part number for the boot lid carpet ?. I cant even see it on the Holden website. A pic would be great if someone has 1.

Thanks

Paul

part numbers are so:
GM92171583 - the carpet bit for the inside of the bootlid (about $37 give or take depending on how discount happy the dealer is)
GM29138253 - the clips to put it on. need 12 apparently (about 55c each)

Thanks jkgmh. I went to my dealer this morning & had a look @ a Calais, it looks heaps better so I ordered it, hopefully be here 2moz. Also checked out my car for the lugs & they arent there either. My SSV was 1 of the last built in Dec, we also checked 6 other VE's on the lot & none of them had the lugs. But mine has the radiator shroud.

P.S 2 days to go till the Nats, cant wait to get up there :yahoo:

Missing shroud also. Guys from work mentioned it when I lifted the bonnet.

Lugs near bonnet latch also missing.
