Hey guys, I'm doing up a '71 HG panelvan from bare metal again, thorough. Pearl white, hidden wires, etc with 383 chev and auto trans. I'm keeping it original other than that, besides little things like side mirrors, i'm even going with original hubcaps and after market trims and white wall tyres.

The only thing I can't decide on is whther to go with a chrome, debadged premier grille or chrome/polished up standard HG grille. Opinions?

With the chrome mirrors, I have chrome windscreen surround and chrome cowls.

Let me know -

The prem grille would look great I reckon.
Is the prem front pretty much same as the brougham?

The HK grille looks the best, single headlight, but go for duals if you're into night driving.
The HG grille is plastic and would look tarty chromed.
XB side mirrors Yeah!

Nah, those little chrome rod style ones that bolt high up on the door pillar look cool.
Keep us up to date with pics!

Go the Prem grill with twin headlights. And yes Agree with Chris on the side mirrows. The less Fraud parts on the car the better.

The best looking grille is a single lamp HK by a long way. With a set of H4's you wont have any problems finding your way in the dark. Probably second best would be a HK-HT prem debadged if you must have dual lights but I think it crowds the front end to much. Dual lamps were useful when you only had 25 watts for high beam.
The rod mirrors that clamp on to the door frames look great but are not very user friendly IMHO, go for a set of period alloy sports mirrors. The bullet shaped ones on the doors will look cool.
May I suggest a frenched aerial in the rear quarter if you are going to have an ariel at all?
Drop the white walls and just go for white stripe with chrome smooth dome caps?
Just an opinion

If you got a HG stick with the standard HG grill.... dam it annoys me when is see a mixed up HK, HT, HG........ ultimate sin is a HG running with a HT bonnet!!!

Go for the original HG Premier grill, it is metal, and I like the dual headlights.
