Just curious.
Is it illegal to remove your bonnet insulator?
I've noticed a couple of cars have removed it, including a green vy in SM i think it was.
If you remove, besides the likelihood of a little extra noise and a slightly warmer bonnet, are there any other side effects?
Cheers in advance

Why would you want to remove your bonnet insulator? It is there for the advantages you have mentioned. A lot of cars do not have them from factory,so I can`t see why it would be illegal......Cheers John

yeah true, not my car, my bros, the felt is coming away from the hard backin. n rather than leave it to dangle over the engine (which i imagine is defectable) its easier to just remove it.
I imagine its like spare tires, its illegal to have a bald spare, but legal to not have a spare at all.

Um, no it is not - well not in any jurisdictions I have experience in anyways. Can't even get a defect for it - you don't even need to carry a spare (several newer model cars don't have spares). To the best of my knowledge there is not a law regarding spare tyres and no ADR covering it either.
Cheers
