Well not sure if this is the correct forum but there seems to be a fair bit of traffic through this general forum so will post here.
Here in South Africa we have some unqiue factory built cars, in Aus the Torana is revered, well arguably here in South Africa we built something thats even more vicious....Meet the Little Chev. aka Chev Firenza V8 Can Am.
Powered by a Z28 spec 302 motor, capable of revving to 7000rpm, 13:1 compression ratio, 815 Holley Carb, 4 speed Munchie, Limited slip diff and a kerb weight of 940 kgs and 220 kW....
0-100 in 5.2 seconds in 1973
Top speed: 233 km/h.
Only 100 of these cars were ever made and very few survive in orginal condition.....
Pictures to follow.....

The Can Am also had special light weight wheels and that rear aero foil was on the car orginally, the bonnet was also made of fiberglass....

Yes most of our classic are heading down under which I think is sad but at least I know they will be looked after...
Well will say right here that I dont think SA have a chance of winning the world cup.
The Can Am was built between 1973 and 1974....

It reminds me of a HB Torana......Nevertheless the power to weight ratio on that thing would be awsome.

Ford Sierra XR8(yes Ford is a dirty word here but maybe some can appreciates the only V8 production Sierra built by Ford)
Built to race, the Ford took the 302 V8 and with heavy modification slotted it into the Sierra bodyshell, coupled to this was a T5 manual gearbox, modified Granada diff, the nose of the car was lenghened to accomodat the radiator. Brakes were provided to AP, wheels came from Ronnel in Germany, the rear spoile came off the XR4i(never sold in SA). Only 255 of these cars were ever sold, body mods included fender spats to accomodate the wider wheels
Power was around 180kW and torque was around 383NM, more than enough to blast this machine to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, top speed was 230 km/h.
A famous Ford that is revered in SA....

That CanAm looks like an LJ with repositioned and squashed tail lights, slightly modified boot and ford escort/capri headlights.
The point on the nose screams LJ/LC, a lot of the overall body shape does.

The 1970 Monaro was sold in SA as a Holden Monaro, however for 1971 the car was rebadged and called a Chev SS, mechanically the two are identical...

Apparently our Firenza was actually a Vauxhall of some variety....but does share similarities with some Holden pictures I have seen....
The BG Perana, very well known, a legend thats very collectable in both SA and Aus...very rare to find in orginal condition like this one...Expect to pay at least 25 000 Aus Dollars for one in this condition..

Valiant Charger, not sure if you guys got these down under, ours sadly only had slant 6 engines....not high performance Chryslers were sold in SA....sadly.
