Howdy,

I'm soon taking the Naro in for it's 20k service.

Two things that bother me.....

1) A creak from the front drivers side suspension when going up a mountable curb whilst in full lock turn -or- close to it. e.g. pulling in or out of the driveway onto the street.

2) The cursed handbrake related swish swish noise from the rear wheels. I understand that this was supposedly fixed in newer holdens by implementing internal springs to correctly pull back the brake shoe. Obviouly this is not working as planned in my car.

I guess any handy tips or advice on the issues prior to me going to service would be handy...

Cheers,
Muz

1) the creak will be your link pin (sway bar) rubbers. An easy fix.
2) The rear brake noise is also an easy fix - but it's not always the handbrake. Sometimes it's the actual rear brake pad just lightly brushing against the rotor (especially if the rotor has a mild distortion). In this case the fix is to a) give the rotors a quick skim (you get one free under your warranty - so may as well get all 4 rotors done) and b) use a bit of adhesive on the rear of the pads when they are re-assembling.

Thanks Peter,

Really appreciate the feedback.

Should however the rear swish noise be indeed the handbrake, what sort of fix can I assume for this? I suspect this to be the case, as when I pull the handbrake at low speeds - hear the loud thud - the noise decreases or even disspears for a short period.

Cheers,
Muz

Good question - I've been there myself. In my case they discovered that the internal drum on the rotor was slightly out of round. So they machined the drum true & installed a stronger return spring to the pad - and then adjusted the handbrake via the backing plate.

Thanks Peter,
Taking mine in for 60,000k service tomorrow and was going to tell them about the creak, I can give them the answer at the same time!

Hi,

I also have that creak noise from the front end, and rear right end when doing near full lock turns and going up / done kerbs?

Is this covered under warrenty and if so how should i word the problem? and what they need to fix? I have a 05 CV8. Cheers
