What i've been planning on doing was getting some CV8-Z rims and powder coating them black then having a set of those holmart brakes behind them
Would look hawt!!! :cool: :diddy::yahoo:
But don't have the money :(

I like the rims. They look good without being too flashy and they are good design that's very easy to clean, that's why I bought some for my car

See im really keen on them but i dont wanna seem like the wanka that has CV8-Z stamped on his Wheels on a VX SS.....
Now i know u can get the SS wheel that are the same without the stamping but i want the chrome/polished look......

And Seedy, the wheels would look very tidy on ya Calais.... Very Tidy.... But maybe stay away from the chalk paint on the tyres... :p
If i had any idea about using photoshop i would chop em on me car, but i dont, and my wife wont chop em for me cause i don't think she wants me to get excited and spend $$ on rims & rubber
But don't have the money :(
Welcome to my world
All in good time dude...

Im actually after These Guys...... (http://www.paylesstyres.com/products_closeup.asp?part=18%27+WHEELS&part_no=231)
What you have linked to is the right wheel, just the wrong finish
the other pics are of VZ monaro (they were also fitted to SSZs aswell) rims, which are the same as CV8-Z without the logo on the spoke, and obviously just painted silver instead of machined. personally mate, i dont like the idea-do you really want CV8-Z on your rims when your car is a VX SS? apart from that they look pretty good. but i saw CV8-R rims (18inch machined face, the rest blacked out) today and they look friggin awesome in real life. awesome. in my opinion the CV8Z spokes are too fat, make the wheel look smaller.

If its a stamp on the wheels, then so be it...
I have finally convinced the better half to photochop em tonight, so hopefully i will see what they are like.. (i'll post the pic up)
Would be ideal if the SSZ rims where machined and not painted... (Payless can u help out here)
I was contemplating these but i want the machine finish...
If it means the stamping then i can live with that i guess... Again its a personal preference thing...

Are you serious?? what about all the non HSV cars running around with HSV rims. It all comes down to what the owner wants. (HOW MANY 6 CYLINDER, HSV KITTED CARS ARE OUT THERE!! To many I say)
The rims are cheap as, you can get the SSZ rims for $960 inc GST, or the CV8 Z rims for $1000 inc GST. (NO TYRES) I have seen whole wheel & tyre packages for $1450 for these, brand new
I think the rims look great & would chuck a set on the SS

Have you considered CV8R wheels? They suit most colours, easy to keep clean and they look great when they are on the move. I'm incredibly biased though.

Thought about it, but as mentioned i like the machine finish (are they machine finish??)

obviously the CV8-Z aren't machined, so is it possible to polish the standard wheels, to get the same finish as the CV8-Z wheels,
could get the best of both world, the polished look but without the imprint
does anyone know if this is possible?

It was a very dull day when I took the shots and the car was dirty (not uncommon). The face is machined and is quite shiny when they are nice and clean. When my friends have driven it past me the rims really pick up the sunlight and makes for a pretty cool effect when its cruising. You would have to see it to know what I mean.

Brock, are you kidding! I love the look of yours mate, wanna swap for VX SS rims!!? Or maybe it is the ride height... Either way yours looks awesome!
Must say I have a thing for the CV8R rims, are they the same as the current SS Thunder Ute rims??
i must admit that looks pretty good. i dunno i just prefer the thinner/more open spoked design (ala CV8-R). go with your gut mate, if you like the look, what else matters?
