Just got off the phone from RACV because they had me on the wrong rating. It took 25mins to explain that if i got my licence at 18 and am turning 23 in October that is 4 full years experience and 5 in October. Then I had to argue the fact that my rating would go up to rating 2. Eventually i managed this and got payments back-dated for the last 9 months.
Win no. 1:
Insurance from $169.92/month to 92.47/month
After this i thought i would be nice and add my girlfriend to my insurance too.
Win no. 2 (and totally to my surprise):
Insurance from 92.47/month to $66.60/month
This on a VY SS for a 22 yo! Thats only $800 per year.:yahoo:
Moral of the storey. Add your girlfriend to your insurance even if you never let her drive!
Yeah, I had a similar experience about six years ago. Added my then GF to my insurance (mid policy year) and they asked me whether I wanted a cheque for the refund.....
I nearly fell over......

yeah that happened to me too when I added my gf to my policy.
and do you think she rubbed it in or what!!!
I wont mention that she has pranged her car 3 times in the last year and doesnt actually get to sit anywhere near the drivers seat in my car. Except when its a last resort.
we're better and safer drivers*cough* Bullshit *cough* :hide: :p

We both have 4 years experience in RACV's eyes but i got my licence about 6 months before her. You can always call and find out. I should note dont just check their website to see if there is a difference cos it didn't show one when i looked.
I forgot to mention that this was inspite of the fact that she had made 2 prior claims (although not at fault) through RACV, which came up on their computer when i added her.

That's not true. Women have a far greater number of crashes than men. Men just do it properly when we do it :p

Thanks for this post.
Im with Just Cars and my GF is only 21 yo. I did not want to add her before seeing as though I thought my fees would increase.
I just rang the insurance and asked them to add her to my policy.
No change to the fees but now she is also covered :)

i called up RACV this morning to have my gf put on my policy after reading this post. didn't get any financial benefit from it but at least she's now covered i guess. seems odd that it didn't reduce my premium since she's older than me and has a better driving history too..

Yes I have an exhaust on my car and this is on my policy.

Very interesting. I wonder why this would be different between people. This difference between males and femails may only apply when under 25?
