[Own a VT2 wagon with free flow exhaust,K&N filter, and just last week got a maffless tune. The dyno figures were 211rwkw and 861nm of torque.Have owned the car for about 2 months and have not given it a good old thrash as of yet. With these figures in mind would anyone no what sort of top speed I should get,and 0-100km times and quater of a mile time!

How fast will she go!

should be around 6 flat 0-100kph
high 13's 1/4 mile but not sure about top speed, its hard to ever get there.

861nm of torque?! is that a typo?

with 861nm it would almost do a backflip on launch!

110, unless you come to the NT, then 130

:p

I would have thought 250ish

That is what dyno sheet says. What would be a typical torque result considering what I have had done.

Had maffless tune done last week! The torque result was 861nm.To me that doesnt sound right.Posted a thread earlier but not getting much response.VT2 5.7 S/W.

Who did the dyno run, it sounds similar to a couple I have seen that had very infated torque figures, similar results to yours actually.

That sounds way too high mate. Just remember that modifying a car is a long run of little steps and through the time you have it your car may be on the dyno quite a few times so the only advice I can give you is to find a company in your area that has a good reputation and keep going back to them so you actually see gains on the same dyno with the same opperator. Dont worry about the actual numbers so much as the real world differances the mods make may be alot different.
As a guide my VY SS M6 with maffless tune made 470nm torque which is way short of the figure yours got.
What other mods are done to your car? Cam? Heads? FI?

the torque on the dyno can be varied by things like:
wheel/tyre size... running a smaller diameter tyre will increase the torque multiplication
diff ratio... 4.11's will give a higher torque reading than 3.46's for instance again due to torque multiplication and how the diff works...
gear selection... 2nd will be higher than 3rd which will be higher than 4th due to the torque multiplication of the gears... more engine spins vs output shaft spins in the lower gears = greater torque multiplication

at the end of the day what you see on the graph as torque in newtons is effort applied onto the load cell of the dyno... the software then calculates that effort applied vs. the speed the rollers are rotating to work out a power figure in hp or kw... i do not know off hand the exact maths of this sorry...

if you had two idential cars...
A: VZ SS M6, stocko with 4.11's
B: VZ SS M6, stocko with 3.46's
both cars should have the same power output, but car A will have a much higher torque reading...

i've seen guys with Auto V6's dyno'd in 2nd gear making the almost the same torque readings as a standard LS1... but the power figures were out by almost 90rwkw...

*this is just my understanding of how dyno's work, and i'm sure somebody with more intimate knowledge of their function could shed more light on this subject... i am happy to be corrected if you do know whats going on*

From what i understand a normally aspirated engines torque in Nm cannot exceed the capacity of the engine in litres. So 570nm would be the maximum an ls1 should be able to produce. An example is the new 420hp bmw 4 litre M3 V8. It makes 105hp per litre and 400nm peak torque. As efficient engine as you will probably find.

read post number 5........

and to answer your questions... i've got an Auto VY Maloo... 199rwkw and did a 13.8...
so with practice you should be able to match and better that!!!

read my post in your other thread regarding your torque question...
as for top speed, the M6 with standard diff gears will run out of power before it runs out of gearing...
you'll need a long drag strip but it'd wind off the standard clock easily in 5th gear ;)

I had the exact same car with exactly the same mods and exactly the same rwkw up until about 6 mths ago...I took it to calder, with an auto and 18's on the back best time I got was 14.1.If you get a 13 out of this setup id be suprised.fun car to drive though:thumbsup:
