Hey All,

I've had my Hothouse Green VY Series 1 SS M6 for the past 2.5 years, and am now looking to sell due to financial commitments. Sydney car, completely standard (except for tints), interior, boot, and engine bay are immaculate. The exterior has no dents, but a couple of minor scratches here and there. Done 94ks, but runs so silky smooth like an 07 model - no rattles, bumps, creeks at all.

Any thoughts as to how much i should advertise it for? I haven't found any of late in the trading post in any state, and am unsure as to a rough price guide. Thanks

Thanks guys. I have found in the past that those redbook guides never match the realistic price and demand of unique or performance vehicles in a common marketplace.

Unfortunately the humble SS isnt unique and redbooks price is actually very accurate from the prices Ive seen them selling for.

Not saying that is unique, it was just a generalised observation. My second car was an 11 sec GSR, i got nearly three times the redbook value. Heck standard ones fetch a good 6k more then what redbook quotes...

Go to a dealer, ask them how much they'd give you as a trade (not on any particular vehicle) and add about $5k on top. Should give you a good idea of the state of the market and what people are willing to pay.

Or you could do a search for VY SS Series 1 M6's in NSW on carsales.com or the like and work out the average.

Dave.

I've got a similar car; an 2003 VY SS silver m6 with 58k on the clock now. It's only advertised here in this forum though.
I did receive an offer of $24k in an email but the person did not show up or respond to my further email.
I received numerous very low 20k's offers aswell. So I guess many potential buyers could be using redbook as their price guide...

Anway good luck.

21k? Thats what I just sold the SV8 for, it had a few mods but being a lower model car it should fetch a lower model price, would you agree? Sold it in 36 hours by the way.

Cheers,

Tim.

Its all a matter of someone willing to pay your price when your car is for sale.
About 12 months back I put my VY SS series 1 up for sale. I received many, what I consider, insulting offers and since October last year the car is sitting under a carport unregistered with the price being slowly lowered. It may have turned out for the best though as I have applied for a new position within the same company which pays substantially more. Only drawback with the position is I may have to give up my tool of trade vehicle, only keep the salary sacrifice one, which means the SS will need to go back on the road.

21k for a VY SS! Dang you could sell that thing for 25-26 in WA I think.

Low KM (30-70k KMS) VX and VU's still go for mid 20's to high 20's. Especially VU's.

Oh well WA is behind again :(

Thanks for the thoughts everyone, I just wanted some opinions from fellow SS owners. I have basically seen on carsales that they begin at about 24k through to about 27 for VY1 SS M6's in similar condition. I know that is advertised price, and that they won't fetch that much in actual sale. The autos are generally 2-3k lower in value as there seems to be alot more of them. They are almost non-existent in the trading post, but there are VX's that are still going for like 15-22k... Might throw an update up when i sell it in the next few weeks, just to satisfy some curiosities.

Well IMHO a hothouse one might pull a few extra bucks. If I was looking for a VY it would be a hothouse manual and I would be preparred to pay a bit more for it. I think Aussietone sold his hothouse Vy for about $26 grand from memory .
Don't put it in too cheap especially if it's in top nick.

cheers

Sold my VYII SS with leather, LS1 Edit and 2.5" Sureflo exhaust for $27K six months ago, and that was with 11 months rego, new tyres and only 60K on the clock.

Let's hope my VE SS holds it value a bit better :hide:

your point is what? car was still driveable, only bolton panels replaced and I guarantee that you wouldn't be able to pick it. There aren't too many cars out there that haven't had some sort of damage, and as long as it is minor damage and has been repaired by replacing bolt on panels, exactly what is the issue?. Without mentioning names, there have been quite a few cars damaged on this forum and others, are those cars now worth less as a result. The VE GTS which had a minor guard hit, is that car's value less because of the hit? I also recall a silver VY SS that had a hell of a harder hit in the front, is that car's value now less? even though in both cases going on the responses of the owners, they are very happy with the repairs.

You mean my car ..Opps there goes my resale.Like you say most cars have had some sort of paint or illegal mods dropping resales

After my accident my car was repaired to a top notch standard using brand new vz guards all new parts with an awesome paint job and a lifetime guarantee on repairs, not to mention no structual damage. If I got my car back and it was sub standard I would have sold it to some young punk but it was immaculately repaired.

yours was the one I was thinking of, mine had less damage although both had the same parts replaced (although I stuck with VY panels)

As long as its had no structural damage then I cant see why it would be worth and less than market value. (except of course if you could see the repairs that were carried out...)

Advertise it at $25000 ono., then negotiate, but $23k would really be tops that it would fetch.
