Hey guys, I bought a Vk calais a while back and have been trying to find out if it is a real director or not before i decide whether to 'juice' it up or restore it.... It has the usual full electrics, dash, windows, trip computer etc. and full leather options along with the director badge on the boot.. but my biggest hang up is that its a SIX!!! not an eight....I thought they only made V8 directors? can someone help please?????

I'm not 100% on this, but a call to the Brock Shop in Brisbane may give you the answer - I'm led to believe that they may hold records of the cars produced by HDT.
If not, try the Vic HDT/HSV Owner's Club.
Good luck,

Does it have a HDT build plate in the engine bay? From what I have read they were all V8's so I think you have yourself a holden calais, not a HDT calais director.

Have you tried searching on Google?
There plenty of sites with dedicated VK HDT Specs.

I am positive that all genuine VK Directors were V8,s but if you need convincing look no further than Pickles on this forum as he is the HDT guru and will know, as he once owned one of the nicest and best equipped VK Directors in the country. But i am sure you are minus 2 cylinders mate.

It should have a build plate if its a brock.

Yeah, it appears that you've got an ordinary 6 cyl. Calais. Directors were V8s, & without a build number, it's definitely not a Brock car anyway. Director badges are freely available to anyone!
Cheers, Pickles.

the six cylinder vk hdt cars were very rare and build plated, im pretty sure from the info you have told us that its a calais with a badge, altho a few six cylinder brock commodores have been sent to N.Z for David Oxton, but doubt someone would bother bringing it back here, the only other six cylinder car i can think of is the MODERN MOTOR project car and that was a red berlina

Nope.............
Brock/HDT only fiddled with a VK Berlina, that was for Modern Motor, later on in the VL's they did sixes.
