hello all, first of all i know this is in the wrong section but im in a bit of a pickle. mods please feel free to delete from friday, im hoping itll all be cleared up well before then. anyways im swapping my VT garnish to a VX (exec/SS) and have come across a couple of issues.

1) the rubber seal along the top-holden tell me there isnt one in the country until next wednesday, and i want to have this done by saturday so i can impress the olds when i pick them up from the airport. can i use the seal from my VT garnish? it is the same length as the VX garnish, but is there any difference between the VT and VX seal? judging from a few photos ive seen the VT one looks a bit wider (taller), will it be any use to me or am i stuck until next wednesday? or am i better off trying other companies like coventry, rarespares (although i dont think itd be here in time), or even repco etc.?

2) the garnish is getting painted tomorrow (wednesday), but is brand new so isnt drilled for the number plate mounts. do i drill these before taking it down to the paint shop or get them to do it? i know only to drill one hole each side, as the VX garnish doesnt have the wide mount holes like the VT one does. the new garnish also doesnt have the foam mounts for the plate, do i rip these off the VT garnish or doesnt it really matter?

and lastly, just a matter of opinion but what does everyone think of refitting the VT SS badge to the VX garnish (on the bottom, same position as on the original)?

thanks in advance for any info or advice anyone can provide, itll be much appreciated, believe me...

and one more: how does the number plate mount, i.e. what do the screws thread to? cos on the VT garnish they thread into the rubber mounts, but these dont seem to come out, and the VX garnish seems to just be plain plastic (i havent drilled em yet-thank christ)?

Don't worry about the rubber seal, I changed my VT garnish to a VX one 3 years ago, the rubber seal looked shit - couldn't get it to line up, so i just left it off... Never had any problem's with the boot leaking or anything..

Drill after painting.. it's no issue you could do it either way i guess. Just screw straight into the plastic with self tappers.

VT SS badge would look ok, i went the VX SS badge though.. looks nicer..

yeah i cant get a VX seal, not one holden dealer in brisbane has one, theyre unavailable from holden apparently. and wreckers wont separate the garnish from the seal. so i might just leave it off.

if your really worried what about some clear sealant or something? or even black) as long as its applied cautiously u should be right and it wont leak.

As i said, i haven't had the rubber seal on mine for over 3 years and have had no problem with water leakage... you shouldn't have a problem.
