Spy shots of 2008 Cadillac CTS-V here >

You can't see all that much but which engine (As the 7L is too expensive apparently) will this thing have and will the same engine be headed down this way (HSV)

" General Motors is laying down the gauntlet. The next-gen Cadillac CTS-V won't be here until the fall of 2008, but, with an anticipated 500 horsepower, it has the BMW M5 squarely in its sights.

The next-gen CTS-V “will be at a power level only described as unexpectedly high,” GM vice chairman Bob Lutz tells CARandDRIVER. Sources say we should be prepared for a 25-percent increase on the current car—which means 500 horsepower. And that has us dreaming of the 505-hp, 7.0-liter LS7 V-8 that currently powers the Corvette, although GM types say there are a few possibilities vying to cram themselves into the CTS-V.

Meanwhile, having recently driven prototypes of the new CTS-V, Lutz pronounced it “flat-out incredible. I’ve never driven anything like that.”

And already he’s talking smack, warning a certain Teutonic competitor that unless the next M5 is substantially better, the CTS-V “will suck the doors off” the competition.

The new V is due in the fall of 2008 as a 2009 model. In the interim, enthusiasts must continue to embrace the 2007 CTS-V powered by the 400-hp 6.0-liter Corvette LS2 V-8 engine. With an-all new CTS sedan bowing this year, the ’07 CTS-V, which will stop production in May, will have to bridge the gap until the V makes its triumphant return as an ’09. "

ive read somewhere that they have stuck a few V12's or V10's in VZ or VE's to test them out. The new powerplant is being fabricated from two of GM's 3.6-liter 60-degree V6 engines mounted on a common crankshaft. Far from relying solely on cylinder count, sources speculate the engine will also benefit from such features as direct injection and cylinder deactivation, resulting in a 7.2-liter V12 with somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of torque.

And just where is GM testing such a behemoth of an engine? In Australia, of course! As has become de rigeur for American automakers of late, GM is relying on its Australian subsidiary to run the development work on the new flagship engine. Holden is reported to have already begun testing mules, based on a Commodore with a stretched-out engine bay, at its Lang Lang test center near Melbourne. Although the Zeta-based Commodore, (a.k.a. the upcoming Pontiac G8) is being used strictly as a test bed for the time being, it could end up providing the underpinnings for the Cadillac megasedan when the time comes.

hit search, type V12, about third thread down

Don't think so mate, 6.2 would probably end up in the new Impala SS.
I reckon the Caddy is pretty ugly, the front end is real ugly.
Can't really understand why they are going to sell then here.
They are built on the Sigma platform that Holden rejected 10 years ago.
I`ve been going to edmunds.com forums for a while now and believe me, it's a tough job trying to , lets say, educate the Yanks on what we have now and have had in the past.
Sure, some are excited about the G8, but alot of them have NFI.
They think the VE is comparible to a Toyota Camry FFS!
I get flamed often.
They don't except the fact that they have been spoon feed crap cars for years there.
It would be great if a flood of Aussies started posting stuff in there.
As far as I can tell, I'm the only one!
They have had some very strange probs there with Monaros, suspension and exploding tyres to name the main ones.
If anyone goes into edmunds, just search G8, Pontiac, GTO in the forums and have a read of some of the weird crap they talk about.
Maybe register and add some comments.

Why would you say that? Any engine could end up in any GM vehicle.

Dont think its ugly at all, thats only a matter of opinion. And there is nothing wrong with the Sigma platform, only reason Holden didnt use it was because it was too expensive to manufacture, so they went the cheaper route with Zeta.

There is probably a reason for that! ;) You've already answered your own question
