What did everyone think of today's V8 Supercars Coverage?

I gave up after Race 2 as I got sick to death of the advert breaks, they were going to them about every 5 minutes......
If this is a sign of what we have to look forward to I am worried. :cussing:

The armour all ad sh*ts me. That's all I have to say.

way way to many ads very dissapointing way to end race 3 to but that wasnt 7's fault by any means.

They appear to be going the same as the footy...way too many ads (but then again the ads are better to watch than the tigers and their complete lack of skill!).
What's up with V8 Supercars and the pace car. In F1 and Carrera cup etc. they can put out local yellow flags to remove cars from sand traps etc but every time a car is stranded in the V8's we have to bring out the bloody pace car. It's almost as annoying as the ads!

You can blame channel seven for the way race three ended... they had to go to an important game of football :cussing: thats why it had to finish by that particular time.

Yep agree, way too many ads and as usual something would always happen when they go to the ad.

I noticed that too! God that was frustrating! Especially that incidence with Jason Richards, he was 50 meters off the track! The likelihood of any other car suffering a breakage and flying off to the exact same place as his car is one in a million! :cussing:

Thats so annoying. I'd be even more pissed if i was at the track. Paying a decent price to watch 3 full races and only getting to watch two and three quarters. :cussing: Sure 7 may have it on at a more reasonable hr to watch but the coverage is nothing special. I'm also sick of seeing the likes of Denyer and Burreta dressed up in their race gear grr

ok im done.

I've got the WPS Production Car 12 hr @ Bathurst on WINTV. The coverage is much better! Fewer adds and they don't dribble as much garbage.

Dunno about you guys, but even as a devout motorsport fan I am getting pretty bored with the whole V8 supercar thing. Hate to admit it, but there it is. Watching 32 pretty much identical cars circle around and crash a bit just seems as if we are slowly but surely heading into NASCAR territory. Whilst I understand the cost of the sport and the aim of parity, I really miss the days of pretty much a road going car with a roll cage, big exhaust, racing tires and a drop-tank going at it. I find the GTP series concept more interesting and relevant. Not saying that the V8's aren't spectacular and I respect the ability of the drivers and the skill of the teams, its just seems to the be same old show each time, just a different track. It should be HSV GTS vs Ford GTP!!! SS vs XR8 even! Racing improves the breed..... plus todays GTS is then tomorrows classic.

I got so sick of the commercials I switched it over to speed week on SBS and watched coverage of the Southern 80.. :)

I love watching the V8's and the amount of t.v commercials simply put
me off today. It was just insane. And race 3.. cool Im thinking 10 laps to go safety car is out should be a belter.. next thing it was finished!! :cussing:

There was the 12 hour mixed race on ch9 which was good.
Except every time the pace car cames out they kept repeating that it was a Kia....... blahblahblah and how GREAT a car it is. Now that was bad!

The high frequency of ads will be how Ch7 recover all the money they paid to steal the V8's away from Ch10. I can't see anything changing unfortunately ... and the cut away before it all finished to go to the ever important footie was one of my fears when they got the deal. Channel 7 suck

Was a little p*ss poor, too many ads. l fell asleep, not once, but twice watching the W.A. round a few weeks ago and wasn't far from it again today, but the LOUD ads kept waking me up. l can't see Winton being any better - what did Dick Johnson call it a few years ago? Winton -: It's like running a marathon around your clothesline

Thank god Neil Crompton is there

Damm, forgot about the 12 hour

I think it's funny how Tander has mentioned that "shock" that the race finished early.

If anyone in the sport complains - when you sell your soul to the largest bidder - you shouldn't be surprised when "contractual obligations" see some facets of the sport impinged on.

However - V8 Supercar's has been subject to time constraints for a couple of years now.

Hot Tip of the day #7 - Don't let your broadcasting rights holder tell you when your races can finish. V8 Supercar can't have been that short on cash that they couldn't negotiate out of being at 7's whim regarding AFL coverage and timing.

It's funny when the integrity of the sport gets twisted - then the participants finally realise what's going on and go "Oh s&!t." Well no sympathy from me. Do some research - know the rules. If you're going to play the game - know the situation.

Pretty poor coverage compared to Ten's last year, I reckon.

And V8 Xtra on Saturdays - don't bother.

fcuking shithouse.. simle as that.

I resorted to ringing a mate at teh track to get an update.

CH 7 has officially fcuked V8 Supercar viewing - perfect example of how extra $$ did NOT further the sport.

I will stick to F1 instead.

im with you, i felt like the cars had gone back in time and were racing in the 80's with the crap camera work and not letting the race go the distance is rubbish, i couldnt watch either races live so i taped and watched later, couldnt believe how often i was hiting the ffw button!:cussing:

Telecast was crap not to mention if they had of put it on live they could have watched the blokes kickin the pigskin around and even squeezed in a few more ads.
Ill watch it on a Computer through a company who specialises in telephone calls

The High Definition telecast got cut in the middle of the prerace stuff. They went to episodes of the great outdoors and never came back. It's been on high definition since the start of the season with no dramas.

The same thing happened to the AFL last weekend and when my wife rang 7 to find out where the HD channel was, they said that they were not going to broadcast that game in HD.

Cheers, Brett

to many ads. got lunch and managed to eat it all with nothing but ads, 3 mins of crompo and v8 motors, then more ads.

don't you hate it being able to eat a meal with nothing but ads being on.

oh well the motor GP coverage was good on 10 last night.

I've just found im getting bored of the sport. Its just cars going around a track, there is very little excitement in it these days. The cars are to similar and really dont allow for much pushing and shoving and head to head battles like it used to.

In defence of the sport, i reckon there has been more "close" racing this year.... and thats a good thing.

Ch 7's really no different to 10 and you have to have ad's to pay the $$

I believe (but dont quote me on it) that the telecast viewing numbers are up??...... this would be telling the producers at 7 that they are doing the right thing:cussing:

Ok i am ready to get flamed now

i dont bother watching live anymore (except on bigpond, but only if i happen to be home and at the computer), i get my NO ADS footage off the net the week after.. the first round with 7 broadcasting set that in stone.

bit pissed i missed the southern 80 coverage on sbs tho. anyone cap it? :D

i can see it now.....

last race of the year, the two title contenders battling each other for the championship, a few laps to go and either two could win....

and channel seven cuts the race short....fade to black

Watching motorsport at Pukekohe is like watching paint dry, only one race line to take and the hairpin to pass. The new street race in Hamilton will be 100 times better :yahoo:

Personally I thought it was brilliant, nose to nose stuff and plenty of overtaking in there, some big crashes. I do love street racing though and Hamilton will be fantastic.

Dont they bring out the pace car to allow more adds:banghead:
But seriously V8 supercars is a waste of driving talent , for a controll formula they need bigger better tyres.
We need a bit more disparity Bring back Group A with some parity regs to keep the locals more competative that would be a lot more intersting.:hide:
