In late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "times in the shop" that will make the differences between cars much clearer. Relative ratings obscure too much--how large is the difference between "better than average" and "worse than average"? I’ll also be updating results four times a year, so there will be information on new models sooner.

I'm focused on the U.S. market. But back near the beginning an admin at a Ford Forum with many Australian members requested that I make it possible for people outside the U.S. to participate in the reliability research. So I did.

If your have a car that is not listed, let me know and I'll add it.

Essentially, I'll collect data on any model I have at least 25 of in the panel. And I'd certainly like the large Holdens to be among them. I personally think it'd be interesting to see how reliability of Australian cars compares to those in the U.S.

To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.

Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome.

I thought only sponsors were allowed to conduct business transactions on this forum....
This survey is about making someone money. Non participating LS1 forum members have to pay to see the results by the look of it!!!!

This survey is about providing better reliability information.

What sort of reliability information is currently available on the Commodore?

It's currently not even possible to pay for full access. I haven't charged a single person for it. In the future I will, but that's some way off.

The primary purpose of saying that only participants will have free access to all of the resulting information is to get people to participate. Otherwise, I learned that most won't.

In other words, making the information free to everyone would result in never having any information to provide.

So the real question is whether Commodore owners want better reliability information to be available on their cars. I have dozens of forums working with me to make this project happen. I'd be happy to have this forum as one of them.

All the best with it.
From the threads I've seen on various forums, the only people who talk about reliability are the people with either genuine lemons or simple whingy pedantic issues, rarely the good stories, so I hope you end up with a balanced result.

Thanks.

To minimize that sort of bias, I only collect data on problems going forward. Overall, only 20-30% of people report a problem in their first six months of participation, and few people report multiple repairs.
