Hello,

As I found out how to do this through simple trial & error, I thought I may help a few people out.

This will enable you to set your stereo display up so that you can see the ID Tag's of MP3 songs on your screen and lock them in as default so it will do it every time your get in your car and play an MP3 CD.

For starters you need to make sure your ID Tags for each song are set correctly in Windows Media Player or whichever one you use before burning to a CD and make sure you burn it as a DATA CD, and NOT an audio CD, as it will convert them to windows audio files and they wont work as MP3's as intended.

Then using the 'Display' button on the unit (far right button), press it to choose between, album name, artist name, song name and a combination of each etc.

One thing that used to really piss me off, was everytime i got back into my car the display would be back to the default of Track Number / Folder Number etc....

The way to keep what you want coming up as default when you get into your car each time is to simply hold down the 'display button' for about 5 seconds when you have it looking the way you want it to be displayed. It doesnt make any beeps or anything but it somehow saves it as the new default. It definitely works, as It worked on both my VE SSV and my office partners VE R8 without any issue.

If you do that, everytime you start your car, your display will show the actual name of the song and the artist / album, the way it SHOULD be set as default in my opinion.

Hope this helps some people out.

Yes - burn a copy of the audio CD using a product like Nero which can grab CDDB data, and thus inject the CD-TEXT info. Works a treat.

Thanks for the post! Thats always frustrated me… does that also fix the issue than when you skip to the next song it comes up with the track number instead of the track name? It annoys the hell out of me having to wait a few songs to see what the track name is. Thanks!

When you change or skip to a new song, it takes approx 2 seconds before it will show the default display that you have chosen, but seriously when your driving and you skip it, by time you look down its pretty much there to see.

Thanks.

Oh ok... cheers. I dont see why it has to revert to the track number, cos if your listening to a 150 song mp3 CD, you can never remember what order all your songs are in, so scrolling through using the wheel control takes for ever. Cos you have to go forward one, wait to see if its the song your looking for, realise its not, then repeat the process until you find the song you're after. Browsing down the list is kinda helpful but not when driving cos its too involved and hard to keep your eyes on the road as well... haha im easily frustrated
