Remind me next time i see you and i can teach you so you can practice before you come up.
Its not an absolute must to heal toe if your only going slow but it helps.
Reason? helps the car not to do compression lock ups on down changes because they cause big spins and lots of broken gearboxes

That would be a great help Justin, hopefully my size 12 feet dont get in the way :driving:

excuse the dumb question but can you actually heal toe a commodore with the positioning of the pedals???
lots of guys complain about the positioning of the pedals that make heal toe not possible/too hard

I have tried it even with racing boots with the leather on the sides. On my car the brake pedal is to high up to get to the speed pedal to push it down to get revs and I have size 16 feet. Other models may be different.
Good luck with the event.

Its a lot easyer on the track when your useing maximen pedal pressure. The brake pedal sinks far anough to make it the perfect hight for heal and toe down shifts. Like every thing, practice makes perfect.

I find it too awkward to heel and toe properly so I use the ball of my foot to brake and roll my foot/ankle sideways to blip the throttle with the outside edge of my foot.

Dan

ask for the caster to be as far foward as they can go without fowling anything.
and as much camber as they can get.

I got the camber kit sorted out (it was rooted) apparently a poorly designed one. Kerry Wade fitted the new one and dialed in -2 camber in the front, forgot to ask about the rear, i presume the same. The ute drives alot better now, and amazing how nice it is to corner..

Bring on the 24th :yahoo:

I had a great time !

With some expert help from Justin (Hotlap) I started the night around the 1m19's as you would expect someone who doesnt know the circuit, or circuit racing. By the end of the night i was out there by myself, and got down to 1m05:5.

Very happy for my first time out there, on street tyres. I recommend everyone give it a try. I had no one try and swap paint with me, all the guys out there were brilliant. Lots of faster cars, fastest car of the night was around the 55 second (this is all on the half track, approx 1.6km)

Would love to do it again, maybe look at doing the november or december events, and have a go at the full track.

The half track is that the same as the super kart track?

Sounds like you had a ball.

5th of July eh? I think i might need to get down there!
Hope my standard clutch will take the abuse

Hey Dan, how did your ute like the cornering? No oversteer or anything?
Have you got a hardtop?

I didnt have trouble with oversteer, I was pretty careful with throttle control (not that im running massive hp). Biggest thing you notice is understeer, especially when trying hard into corners, so the front tyres got a hammering  Doing the negitive camber and caster was well worth it.

I have a hard top too, dont really care about removing it, theres more in the car when the driver gets better he he.

You only use 3rd and 4th gear on the track, so I couldnt see why the stock clutch should have an issue, your not smashing the clutch like at the drags. Just depends on the amount of HP your running I guess, dont let it stop you from having a crack, more LS1 Utes the better
