hey everyone, after seeing the latest colour on the VE "morpheous" i was looking back through some of my photochops id done a few years back and found this one of a VY clubby i did about 3years ago.
i never watermarked it to start with and in the mean time someone has ripped the pic off me on their ebay item :(
have now watermarked it, but could this be what gave holden the incentive for the colour???
it was all over the forums back when i first did it...
hmm, makes you wonder sometimes?? :D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/hsvboy11/mycolour.jpg
and just for comparison, heres a couple pics of the VE colour i took at work the other morning:

its not that bad is it :p
i remember wanting to make that clubby really stand out haha...
and that i did :p
had a lot of people wow it, reckon its a little to out there for pre VE shapes, its really sutis the VE shape well IMO... with the big flares, bolder design etc... :)
looking at the real thing with no sunlight, inside the workshop, or when its cloudy is looks horrible i reckon, just like the cadbury cars - in the sun its pretty amazing however

Nah, yours looks like a custom chameleon style paintjob ... theirs looks like someone got stoned in the paintshop and forgot to clean the blue out of the paintguns before throwing some red in.
Saw a morpheus SS at a yard last night. It's one ridiculous colour

Sticking that VE in between a Red one and a Black one ... clearly they never want to sell it.
IMO that colour is just wrong, whoever discontinued Evoke for that pile of puke should be fired ASAP.
Was it your idea ??? I doubt it ... sorry mate, harsh I know, no offence meant.

What an ugly colour, maybe it's good for your misses or something but I wouldn't be caught dead driving a car with that colour. Well maybe if I got the car for free I would however I would get it painted within day's. And I agree with NickS, Evoke was a mad colour and they ditched it for some stupid reason and keep morpheous. Holden must be stupid (well they are stupid) thinking they are going to sell more cars in morpheous then in evoke.

The scary thing is the design team that would pick the exterior colour would star with a palette of thosands of colours and then whittle that down to probably a dozen colours and from that they choose "Morpheous":werd:

Pretty predicable bagging of the colour on this forum, but the simple fact is that all colours get rated by a sample of the market before production, which means enough people actually do like it! I've had a good look at a couple at work now. It's not that bad a colour, just it's not for everyone.
Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that EVERY hero colour has been bagged on this forum since the VT Tiger Mica!
That's the purpose of a limited run "hero" colour....to stir emotion.
`redoctober
25-04-2007, 05:17 PM
They did pretty well with hero colours in the VY.
Hothouse Green and Cosmo Mica were beautiful.. So was Evoke in the VE, I'm still wondering why they got rid of it (may have been covered in another thread, not sure), much better than Morpheus imo.

Marge: So, Mr. Hutz, does my husband have a case?
Hutz: I'm sorry, Mrs. Simpson, but you can't copyright a drink.
Homer: [whines] Oh!
Hutz: This all goes back to the Frank Wallbanger case of '78. How about that! I looked something up! These books behind me don't just make the office look good, they're filled with useful legal tidbits just like that!
Actually it's probably the same with a car colour

I think you would be able to trademark the name of the colour...
For instance Ford could release the same colour but couldn't call it "morepheous".

I think you should remove your knife from GM's back on this issue.
Many brands have this problem. It's to do with with the plastics drawing in some pigment. Panel shops have the same problem sometimes, even when using exactly the same mix.

It's slightly amusing that when Cosmo came out, many complained that it wasn't purple enough, so now they bring out a real purple shade, and people now complain that it's too purple!
Get used to these purple shapes people. Holden aren't the only brand that has them (or is about to have them). At least it is emotive....

I don't think that morpheous is that new, I remember a colour called Violet or something like that available in the Z series HSV range. When I spoke to Julian at City Holden about this colour, he said that they tried but could not sell that colour in Adelaide because it appears that we Adelaidian folk are too conservative to bee seen in a car dressed like that. He said they did have one at one stage but swapped it for another car interstate.
I did see one a year later in Gumbowie street Edwardstown with Metro number plate surround so it appears that at least one person in Adelaide has bought one. Although it is not my cup of tea, it actually looked good in the flesh. Does anyone here own one or have a pic of this colour for comparison?

Even Gibbons (fairly small dealership in Perth) have a Morph in their yard. Must reckon it'll be popular.
I kinda like it, but then i've always been a sick puppy. Sure prefer it to my Cosmo I had a while back. Cosmo was too dark.
Im looking at getting a VE SSV and I don't think I could bring myself to by the Morpheus...
I am a bit of a sucker for the darker colours...

Morph certainly seems popular, at least with the dealerships. There were at least 5 in BG (Perth) and a few more at Gibbons.
I was able to see the colour in both direct sunlight and in shade. The more I saw it the more i liked it.

You have to admit that HSV owners tend to stick to there traditional colours like Black, Red etc.....Just like ferrari owners go for Red then Black...it is strange but a matter of fact that we probably all think the cars just look tougher in those colours.....

At a guess I would say it's so they can Trademark and Register both the name and the specific tints that make up that colour... it has to be an irregular word, because you can neither Trademark nor Register the English language...
