This is my first post here. Man some of you have some sweet rides. I have just purchaced a Vy Acclaim wagon for the misus and have put a set of DTM R5's 20"x9" wrapped with 245/35/20 on it. It is standard hight at the moment and just scrapes on the drivers side when I hit a large bump at 100 odd clicks thats all. I intend to have all four gaurds rolled and chuck some superlow lovells in it. But im worried that the fronts will rub with superlows being that there 9" wide most guys run 8's or 8.5's, The back will be fine i think . I bought them off a workmate who had them on a VY Clubby with superlows and he reacknd they didnt rubb. Do any of the different model vy commy's eg. between a wagon and a clubby have different width front gaurds at all?

HSV's with factory 19's had a different height spring seat to give extra clearance. You sure your problem is the guard, and not the strut tube?

Yeah positive. The tyre is close to the strut but still 10mm clearance. Plus I can see where the rubber is getting peeled off the outside. Just real small slithers tho, and its only the drivers side that touches. I have read a lot off posts on here with people saying that you have too run coilovers to run 20x8.5's. Mine bolted straight up and there 20 by 9's and they have 245's on them and they still got clearance from the strut. So I dont really know where that eventuated from. Im picking that they might touch the inner gaurd at full lock though. But I can live with that.

when you turn the wheel (steering) and hit a bump the tyre hits the guard and it gets sliced. Ive seen it happen a lot on lowered cars and moreso on cars with larger rims.

had 20s with 235s on the front of vy wagon, never touched with them but the said they couldnt use the 245s bcs they would definately hit.
I had standard fe2.
Dunno if that helps, could be different offsets etc

There's a pic at a NZ site of a vy on the exact same rims as i have same colour car too but an SS sedan they wouldnt have different gaurds or anything ey, cause it looks like its on superlows. Its the silver vy on DTM R5's down the bottom of the holden commodore gallery at toptown.co.nz These wheels only come in 9" wide too so It would have to be the same width. Im just not sure if id be wasting my money buying the superlows thats all. Maybe just lows instead.
