My new VZ ss ute goes in for its edit on friday. So far ive lowered it, added 19inch Kaotics in black, added a Supercat 21/2 inch dual cat back. Its also getting cold air on friday as well.

A VE SS sedan in the latest Street Machine Commodores mag got 251rwkw with more or less the same mods. Should i be hoping to get a similar power figure...Marcus at Gentech in Canberra is doing the work

i couldnt find a similar post has anyone else had this combo done to an L98 ute?

i heard some of the later vz'z got the L98. the earlier ones got L76
Same engine i think just the L98 doesnt have the abilitly to shut down cylinders when cruising (to save on fuel). I think the L76 had the ability but holden never used it. Not 100% on that.

The later VZ's got the L98 engine, you're right there, but it is the L98's that have Displacement On Demand (4 Cylinders shut off whilst cruising) the L76's don't have that feature. Believe me it works too, mine chews hardly any fuel on the highway, i can get about 11.5L per 100km, which is better than holden quotes.

I've had my VE down to 9.5l/100km on a drive back to Perth with average speed of 86km/hr

Ahh no mate your L98 does not have DOD. The L76 had the lifters for DOD but nothing else if I recall. Your L98 has standard lifters. Holden will probably develop DOD compatibility in due time. But for now its not available to us. I can get 7.2 L/100km on the highway. Thats better than Holden quotes too. Thats tuned of course.

Fair enuf, yeh mines only got 550km on the clock, only had it a week so i'm not sure if it'll use less fuel once its loosened up a bit or be about the same. My driving style doesn't help it either, seeing as how its my first V8!
