Hi guys,

I'm installing a carPC into my VX SS and want to integrate the entire screen, including housing (so I still have the screen's button controls), into the double DIN fascia spot. Similar to what VooDoo did below - I have exactly the same 8" LCD touchscreen, but of course I have the standard VX SS fascia :

Also look at the pics by vxclubby85 (but my screen has the buttons on the right hand side like VooDoo's):

Does anyone know who can do a job like this in Melbourne? I'm assuming there needs to be some plastic welding and a fair bit of bogging and sanding to get the result I'm after. I would like to keep the fascia in the original colour, so it will have to be resprayed after the moulding. Any ideas what would be the approximate cost of doing all of this?

I can't help in any way, but that will look sensational when you've finished!!!

Try the fabrication section inside the forums at mp3car.com. There is a wealth of information for guys who've done similar jobs. In essence, you're looking at some cutting/shaping, epoxy, some fibre glass putty (the yanks call it 'Bondo') and a whole heap of sanding and shaping. There are other options.

I'm about to do a similar exercise using the shell of a dead double-din stereo in my XR. Let us know how you go.

Guys, thanks for the replies and PMs. Can anyone else help me out with some places to check out, especially in the northern suburbs of Melbourne?
