This may sound really stupid - but I'm wondering if others have suffered the same fate.

By shoe wear I mean actual footwear and not brake shoes.

I have a couple of leather shoes and the left hand shoe on each pair has a cut mark on the top toe section.

This is caused by the VE pedals as I swing round to get out of the car. I think its the brake pedal that is the culprit

Has anyone else experienced this (exciting) phenomenon

Can't say that I have, no.

Just be more careful as you're exiting your beast :).

The only shoe wear I've had from any car is the wear on the back of the heal on the right shoe. Too much throttle work for me....

You may find that there is a dag of metal under the peddles, possibly from being stamped or a weld dag that wasn't cleaned off. Carefully feel around the under side of the peddles to see if there are any sharp bits hanging off. It's a good idea to wear a glove for obvious reasons, just see if the glove catches on anything. If not, then take the glove off and carefully feel again for sharp edges.
